Mr. Pullin was everything as advertised last night, and against "the tallest team in college basketball." 15 points, 4 assists, 0 turnovers, 5 rebounds, in 28 minutes. 44% from the floor, 50% from 3. He only hit 6 of 9 on free throws (67%) which is average nationally, and less than you'd want from your point guard, but he looked disappointed in himself after the misses. He averaged over 76% over four years at UC Riverside, so it's not something to fret about. Numbers aside, what I really liked were the things that don't show up in stats. He was smooth with the ball. He could handle hard contact. He recognized traps and avoided them easily. He had a natural affinity to distribute the ball and seemed to have a psychic connection with Clayton's spot on the floor, and there's no such thing as psychic connections. He never looked out of place or confused, which would have been something to expect in his first game. Another great thing: he did it all in a "sub" role, coming in off the bench. He got starter's minutes (28), so the quad of Kugel, Richard, Clayton, and Pullin should all be happy since they were essentially all starters. Now we need to see how to get Aberdeen and Rishwain minutes in each half.
His first 3 and a couple free throws were line drives. Outside of those shots it was an A+ performance.
C'mon, you all are missing IT. First guy: Welcome to McDonalds! Second guy: Do you want fries with that burger?
