he never tried to change the deal

no rock solid security guarantees that Russia will never invade Ukraine again, no deal

why is it so hard for you to understand that

hell he even offered to resign if the security guarantees were provided.

again, you ignore facts and reality and spew russian talking points like a good cultist. did you ever think in your wildest dreams you w would be a russian misinformation agent?

should Z trust the pinky promise this time? did you even know about the previous pinky promise?

you a fan of the police officer extorting the rape victim for a little side action to complete the police report too?

By my count this is the fourth time they’ve tried to get the little dude to sign the document. Can’t they just email him a Docusign ?

no. No deal is set. Just what I’ve read form multiple sources is that Z insisted on security guarantees in order to sign. Something he has been told multiple times is not happening. And something he had agreed to prior to flying to DC, then tried to play it out on TV. The article from left leaning politico as saying the prior deal was off the table now.

You really seem to have this thing all figured out.
    I don’t think it’s a simple as you’ll have us believe.

oh gee. I don’t know. Maybe Because after decades of unwinnable wars and countless American soldiers, marines airmen and sailors injured and killed, that the US (trump) is not interested in sending more to their deaths to defend yet another corrupt place like the Ukraine thousands of miles away with minimal American strategic interests. Something that’s been on trumps platform since the beginning and one of the reason I voted for him

Posts on social media in support of Zelensky poured in shortly after he left the White House on Friday evening. Among the notable exceptions were Italy's Giorgia Meloni, who wants to preserve her excellent relations with the Trump administration, and Hungary's Viktor Orban, who praised Donald Trump for "standing bravely for peace".
Zelensky, Trump and Europe: Where does a weekend of frantic talks leave them?

You mean just like Estonia, Moldova, Latvia, Romania, Hungary, and Lithuania? So Vlad choose the next one whenever you're ready.... Maga is all for it.

Neville Meloni and Viktor Chamberlain seeking peace in our time. lol

Normalizing wars of conquest never ends well. Those days were ended with the horrifying 20th century and we need to never return to them.

What is the deal then? I’ve asked “conservatives” several times directly, including you.

What deal is Zelensky signing? He’s giving up 50% of mineral resources (and now you say we should demand 70%!). For… what? Why would anyone in their right mind agree to that without a guarantee of some sorts? Hell, if Ukraine fell would Putin even honor this deal between the U.S. and Ukraine, giving the U.S. all these stolen resources out of Ukraine? If he did, what the hell did he spill all that Russian and Ukrainian blood for? To just turn around and give it to the United States? None of this proposal makes a lick of sense.

Another poster seemed to think the guarantee meant “troops on the ground” or NATO, but I would consider continued military gear and support to be a security guarantee. If we aren’t confirming the latter then obviously this is all a farce, and Putin has got to be over the moon he’s shaped the U.S. political dialog in such a way.

How the hell is this even being framed as Zelensky standing in the way of peace? Guy is being asked to totally capitulate to the Russian invaders AND have his country’s resources looted, and he’s the warmonger? In your own words how does this make sense? Putin is the invader and can end his aggressions at any time. Last I checked, two parties need to agree to a ceasefire. If the invaded nation unilaterally does it, the correct term is not “ceasefire” it is surrender.

Exactly. This would be like Moscicki being cool with the Molotov / Rippentrop pact in 1939.

I can't understand why this is hard to see.

Yeah, the "Stranger in the Room" act from Vance was beyond despicable. Trump was likely truly all hurt in the feelies, he spends most of his time being emotionally distraught. But Vance really doesn't have any emotions that aren't programmed. He will literally say anything, and him having the shamelessness to put on that act was astounding.

The vast majority of Republicans were in favor of those “endless wars”. Especially ridiculous to invade Iraq (I could not fault anyone for wanting to retaliate against the Taliban in Afghanistan).

This all lines up with my theory that George W Bush broke the minds of Republicans. The same people who were overwhelmingly in favor of Iraq and throwing our allies under the bus for not going along with it (remember FrEeDoM fRiEs?), are now confidently lecturing everyone about the pitfalls of globalism and “endless wars”.

One problem with applying those “learned lessons” to the Ukraine conflict. The United States didn’t invade Ukraine! Russia did! I think a lot of Republicans need to accept the very slim possibility that they are just as wrong now as when they so patriotically pushed for U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Don’t have time to answer everything. The idea is that vlad would discontinue his operations knowing there are now American companies and American interests digging in those Mines. You can say it’s foolish. That’s Up to you, but I believe it’s a shrewd and cagey way of putting Americans there without putting military assets in country.

if the EU wants to put troops there outside of a nato agreement then have at it. This is what trump has been on the EU for years. No more living in luxury under the blanket of US protection and not having to foot the bill. So if trump is able to get them to commit their troops then great

i don’t care any more or less about Ukrainians than I do for the hundreds of thousands lost in combat on the African continent in the last 3 years. I do not want to see US military personnel providing security for either of them

Millions have died in conflicts since the Cold War; most of them in Africa and intrastate conflicts

I agree with you. I was much younger and much more hawkish prior to Persian gulf 1. As a contractor I have been in conflict zones. I’m older now and my experiences have changed my opinion. I’m completely uninterested in securing the thankless world at the expense of our younger Americans. Just my opinion. Feel free to disagree

Vlad had American many American corporations with operations in Russia with billions of dollars of investment. That was so successful in stopping him from invading Ukraine. Maga supposes it will work next time? That is ridiculous.

What a lowlife take. If I see you on the side of the road after a hit and run needing help, I hope your wallet is full of $100 bills for my trouble. Who thinks like you? Appalling.
