Not all pregnancies come from consensual sex. Not all come from unprotected sex either. And again, men have the ability to literally walk away and never be seen/heard from again. Women don't have that ability. Fair? No. But who said life was fair?

Yes, for a specific purpose. Granting access to having sex with a person doesn't mean complete access permanently (you can rape somebody who has consensually had sex with you) and it doesn't grant access in all contexts (you can't force somebody to have plastic surgery so that they are more attractive the next time you have sex).

Assuming it was consensually unprotected, then yes, that particular access was granted to the female body and the male agreed to it.

Because the female's body is the one that is affected afterwards (and thus, it is her decision). Again, choosing to have sex with somebody doesn't provide you rights to another person's body days, weeks, or months later.

 

I get that. But I also think that making the blanket statement of "The choice should be between the woman, her doctor, and anyone else she wishes to include." is also unfair and both cases do a major disservice to both parent and child. Maybe if deadbeat dads were vilified as much as single mothers it would change.

 

Yeah. Blame the government and often the addicted/abusive, hanger on, parents for that one.
My sister just adopted her two after nearly 5 years of red tape with the foster system.

The foster to adopt system in this country is beyond broken and it isnt because people dont want to adopt.

 

The people who 'cant mind their own business' are the control freaks and prudes who cant let people live their lives and make their own decisions on reproduction or who they want to have sex with

I see that regularly. An awful lot of parents failing their children. Adoption is way too expensive and takes far too long. Still there are children without anyone out there. White infants are a premium - the others not so much.

Nah, you stop it. The line "domestic supply of infants" in the Dodd decision is so deeply offensive, women are not livestock.

If someone wants to continue a pregnancy and give that child up for adoption because that is what THEIR conscience demands, then that is their personal decision. Nobody has been "blinded" by a political storm into making a very personal decision. Where you may see "convenience" someone else may see a catastrophic life changing event.

Again, best that we all mind our own business.
