Young Republicans are begging uncool, out of touch party elders to stop saying "woke"

Funny. Older maga literally become giddy when they get in on slang. They are still going bonkers over “let’s go Brandon”. Ask them about it, they’re all excited to tell you its meaning.

 

What’s even scarier to me is just how good they are at it, and how bad the left is at countering it. The slang term “woke” means being aware. So politicians like DeSantis, Haley, et al are fighting a war against awareness. It’s like the right doesn’t know they’re putting themselves down, and the left doesn’t have the heart to tell them.

 

That and the FJB stickers on their vehicles.

I hate the term, but most people arent ising it in a racial context.

Its a poor way of saying that some of us are sick of the progressive desire to push everything down everyone's throats.

It could be drag shows for kids or men in women's showers at the gym. All of those type things get the woke moniker too. Nothing racist about them.

Its a dumb term, but a generic one for criticizing the absolute anything goes mentality pushed by the extremists on the left.

In short the left needs to stop thinking that being woke is always the right thing and the right should stop thinking using the term woke at all is the right thing.

If you are mainlining Libs of Tik Tok content and then say "its being shoved down my throat" you are doing that to yourself! Sorry, but there is no way drag shows or storytime for kids is being shoved down your throat, that's niche stuff that people seek out if they want it. Every conservative I know has a personal story about something woke related at work or at their child’s school. All these fringe anecdotes add up to hundreds of thousands in the nation. Pubs don’t get to drive the media narrative and we struggle to challenge it due to liberals ownership over the media. guys like you dismiss the information and can easily find a liberal written link to disprove.

 

A city tried to pass an ordinance, a city you didn't even live in. My point exactly, you are aware of it because of a vast outrage machine that filters this stuff to you and others to get mad about. Who made it into a thing to where the NBA or NCAA had to make calls on events?

 

That's exactly it. They stole a term from Black people and have turned it into a pejorative. It's all about signaling to certain parts of their base that the party is prejudiced against the same people they are.

 

Conservatives absolutely drive the media narrative, the NYT has been obsessed with trans issues and whatever preoccupies conservatives.

They're 100% using it in a racial context, as evidenced by DeSantis's Stop Woke Act, which specifically targets the teaching of race in schools and universities.

The fact that the term also encompasses their prejudice towards the LGBTQ community does not eliminate the racial undertones.

Pubs don’t get a say in media, academia or in Hollywood. You should try looking at it from a different angle to see what’s really happening outside.

It was on our 6 o'clock news and ESPN daily for a month. It flipped an election here. The NCAA and NBA did it because of pressure from the left, not because of outrage from the right.

The city tried to overrule state law which would have impacted the entire state.

The average person isn't looking at libs of tiktok or any of that stuff. But they did notice ESPN radio dedicating hours of discussion to it. I mean do you consider ESPN to be conservative? Is Adam Silver conservative?

No. The scope of that news ...about that issue ...was made by a noisy left.

Lie #1 was calling it a "bathroom" bill .
NC already had bathroom protections statewide. This was a shower in the gym bill, but the alt lefties knew that wasnt palatable so they watered it down for show.

There was non biased real journalism about it even at the time. It just got drowned out by ESPN and the NBA.

Wgb isnt trying to own me. He actually has open minded conversations and doesnt toe the leftist line like some. Him and I agree on several things.
