I think it means weapons that were available during the drafting. So muzzle loading black powder rifles. I am okay with that and open carrying of those too.

Nope, nowhere to shoot one. The challenge with a cannon is that you basically need a mountain as a backstop and they’re kind of in short supply in Florida lol

I don't think it is illegal, but you would need to acquire the fissionable materials and the explosives to make a compression that is strong enough to create criticality to cause a chain reaction.

In all serious though, The NFA from 1934 pretty much made it very difficult to get a fully auto weapon. In fact they are very inefficient. The 3 round burst is best. Full auto wastes a lot of ammunition. I have fired full auto and while it is total badass it uses so much ammo.

My buddy with the class 3 license had a motto. You can shoot it all you want but BYOA!! Bring your own ammo.

And can’t worship at any church denomination that didn’t exist in 1791 either. Nor should the 4th amendment apply to your vehicle or electronics, as those didn’t exist.

 

actually private nuclear weapon ownership is illegal under 42 U.S. Code § 2122. That said, as @GatorBen pointed out, you’d be surprised at what actually is legal if you had the money, could find someone to sell it to you, and adequate storage facilities. Tanks, fighter planes, warships, explosives, etc generally have no federal laws actually outright prohibiting private ownership them, but either have no manufacturer who would sell them to you, require prohibitively expensive storage facilities, would be prohibitively expensive to own and operate for most, and/or would be prohibitively expensive to fire

 

Yeah, the list of things that there are outright absolute prohibitions on owning is pretty small. The big categories that I’m aware of are nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, and guided missile systems designed to destroy aircraft.

 

I think firearms should be a privilege rather than a right. It's HIGHLY unlikely that we'll ever need to fight off the Army but there is gun violence every day.

Long established jurisprudence disagrees with you, and it’s one of the few things the left and right can agree on. So that said, we don’t get to pick and choose which amendments get viewed under the lens of the advance of technology.
