Following up, with thanks to @G8trGr8t in another thread, here’s an article that shows the degradation of our Universities due to DeSantis’ policies. It’s very real. For those who long for de-education coupled with indoctrination, this is great news. For those who cherish academic integrity and learning, this is horrible.

Wow, that's weird. When looking at actual applications, UF keeps going up. I thought younger generations are leaving Florida LOL. Seriously? Turn off MSNBC for a few minutes.

DeSantis didn't ruin the value of UF Degrees or any other college in Florida. I already posted that UCF and USF are the highest rating they've ever been. So the rest of your argument falls on it's face.

 

I despise DeSantis. I don’t hide it. I despise him because he is so destructive to things I hold dear. He is a person that thrives on hate and discord. And he obsesses over concealing and revising everything which doesn’t tie in to his whitewashed beliefs. And I post in these boards for the very purpose of making sure his Hateful agenda does not go untouched.

I suppose the bigger question is why people stand blindly behind and nakedly salute a person to hate-filled.

 

Florida is the second largest University system, but feels very far 2nd from UC and Cal State systems. Regardless, we should all be proud of the rankings shooting up. UT Austin is roaring back as well.

Not so hot take: UF gets lots of press and ranking boost because subsidized by the taxpayer with low in-state tuition. If UF were to normalize it’s tuition, it would crater in rankings. One cannot deny that prior governors, legislatures… including (gulp) DeSantis have kept tuition from raising at the pace of other states. Let’s be honest here… this subsidy from the taxpayer is really important to FL competitiveness as a state.

 

I explained the reason why high-achieving children apply to UF. Again, compared with out of state schools, the value of UF was incomparable. As I also said, that value is being questioned. Let’s see what happens in a few years.

I cannot emphasize how much I want to be wrong about how destructive I see DeSantite policies are to my a university and to the kids of this State.

The value isn’t being questioned. That’s where you are way off. Once you realize that it will make sense.

 

I don’t like extremist politicians. Guilty. DeSantis is amongst the most dangerous, and he’s at the top of my dislike list.

I’m not far to the left as I feel the same bout extremists in the left.

I care about my children, my nephew and nieces, and all of their friends. And so yes, I am passionate about objecting to things I see as wrong and detrimental to them. Guilty again.

I’m pretty sure I don’t need professional help ON THIS ISSUE, though. I’m fully capable of disagreeing with someone, like you, on this and many other issues, and yet still have the full capacity to have a discussion. I’m fully capable of even agreeing with someone like you on other issues. And I’m fully capable of not judging you as a horrible human because you don’t see things as I do.

(Also, I know this is a message board, and I’m also fully capable of not caring three minutes from now as go whether you agree with me, disagree with me, or laugh at me. And those that do, probably need a little help)

 

Of COURSE it’s being questioned. If the value is degraded because hiring employers don’t hold UF is the same breath as other top tiered schools, like Michigan, UVA and UNC, to name a few, then there is a severe cost to attending Florida bs those other schools.

 

If it’s being questioned why are there record applications? Makes zero sense. The data is telling you no and you don’t care. Got it. Guess we still have to “be patient”…

 

The data is telling us talent is leaving our schools. We don’t have the time to be patient. DeSantite policies need to be retracted before the damage becomes traceable and irretrievable. Do you really not have the vision to understand this? Or are you just an ardent supporter of DeSantism (which you disclaimed above)?

Yes. I’m left of DeSantis. Genghis Khan is left if DeSantis. But what I noted is that despite your you insults, you cleverly avoided answering the question.

 

The only “vision” I have is that you are paranoid about DeSantis. It’s sort of funny to see. He kept schools open more than just about any other Governor and he got rid of mask requirements when the data showed they don’t work. That was the high point for me on DeSantis. He’s been far too right for my taste the last 18 months. BUT the way you are acting is ridiculous.

 

I think the way the sycophants rubber stamp his hate-filled agenda is bizarre, and of course bed ridiculous. When bad policies are put in place across the board, bad things usually follow.

Again, this thread is about US colleges. Florida schools like UCF and USF had their best ever rankings. So, your contention that DeSantis's policies are bringing down FL school rankings is shown to be wrong. Simple as that. Guess we have to "be patient" LOL.
