I think we will know fairly quickly next year if Napier will be fired. Assuming that things go poorly, would you be interested in bringing Deion Sanders to Florida?

Would a splashy over the top move like that reset Florida, and put us on the map in terms of recruiting in the NIL era of Football and potentially lock down the state?

    Interested to hear thoughts

Absofrickinlutely NOT. Any "success" under Deion would be short lived, and there's no doubt in my mind it would end badly and set us back even further.

Yeah, let’s hire a guy who’s has never had a winning season in FBS, lost 7 of his last 8 games and fired a coordinator to protect his son. Sounds groovy.

    Huh?

Edit: The qualifying statement that the question is based on is wrong. And the question, itself, is ludicrous.

    I'll take this seriously. Why?

I was a big fan of Deion when he was at JSU, but I have been pretty underwhelmed by his coaching job at CU. I guess going from one win in a season to four is an improvement, but none of those teams finished the season with a winning record either.

Next, he may clean up in the portal, but, despite this board treating it like a magical cure-all, it takes a lot more than that. Look at the portal rankings of the teams in the playoff. None of them got their talent by the portal alone, and two of them have the vast majority of their talent the old fashioned way. Plus, at some point, as Miami and Texas A&M have demonstrated, you have to have coaches for that talent. Rolling out the best team money can buy with mediocre leadership hasn't gotten anyone to the promised land on its own.

So based on that, why? A flurry of press for the first month of the season doesn't win the natty, and it looks like strong portal recruiting doesn't either. It's absolutely a piece of the puzzle, but it isn't the puzzle.

So, FSU history aside, and noting I actually really appreciated his time at Jackson State, what about Sanders makes him seem like an actual solution to our current problems? He hasn't shown an ability to recruit high school students at a particularly high level, and he didn't really beat anyone that you can't argue was at least a jump ball kind of game. Why is he better than what we have? We'd get a ton of media coverage for a month or two, and then, just like this year, if he wasn't winning, that would all die off. And then what?
