I think most of the team was born in France/Netherlands/Spain

Ronaldo benched. His 21-year-old replacement scored a hat trick

A true changing of the guard. Ramos was spectacular and that first goal was a stunning strike!

Swiss defense looked like proverbial cheese, especially after watching Morocco play D.

After two days with no games, the Cup is back:

Although very unlikely, I’m rooting for an Argentina-Portugal finals. One final Messi vs Ronaldo face off and the meltdown by the fans of the loser will be epic!

Would they leave Ronaldo on the bench again, watching Messi play?

It would be a shame if that happened. But I doubt Ronaldo comes off the bench tomorrow

Kind of had the feeling that if it came to penalty kicks Croatia would win. They won a match on penalty kicks four years ago and beat Japan on penalty kicks in their last match in this year's tournament.

They seem like specialists at it. At this point, it almost seems like a strategy.

BTW, amazing that they are back here again. After Russia, the general thought was that they would be too old this year. But a country of 4 million people have made the semis two straight World Cups.

Croatia won their round of 16 and quarterfinals on penalties in the last World Cup and beat England in overtime in the semis. It’s just what they do. Stay back, play defense and tire the opposition out.
