Hand calculated NQS, but feel sure this will be the final NQS posted for the current ranked top 4 teams:

    1. Oklahoma 198.1400
    2. Florida 198.1350
    3. Michigan 198.0100
    4. Utah 197.9200

Oklahoma replaced Illinois so they will host a home regional. Florida, Michigan, and Utah will go on the road to Auburn, North Carolina State, or Washington.

At this point, I don't care where the Gators go to perform. Florida as they showed in the SECs will be the best team at any regional.

    Morning after the SECs thought:

It may be hard to pick out a defining moment in the season to say this is where UF lost the 1 seed to OU. Retrospectively, I think that moment happened last week at NC State when UF had an underwhelming balance beam rotation. UF was cruising to a low 198+ score and then crashed on the balance beam, crashed from UF normal anyway.

    Seeds 1-8:

    1. Oklahoma 198.1400
    2. Florida 198.1350
    3. Michigan 198.0100
    4. Utah 197.9200
    5. Alabama 197.7900
    6. LSU 197.7350
    7. Auburn 197.6500
    8. Minnesota 197.4400

Alabama dropped a low road score which caused their NQS to go up considerably pushing the Tide up to the 5 seed past LSU. I hope Luisa Blanco has nothing more than a mild ankle sprain and that she can return for regionals and nationals. It really makes no difference who is 4 and who is 5 as both Utah and Alabama will be in Seattle.

Minnesota held off charging California who finished 9th at 197.3300.

Unless the NCAA selection process does something different than the usual, Florida will be paired with Auburn at Auburn. On the bright side, we get to watch Trinity Thomas continue to show she is the best gymnast in the world by besting Sunisa Lee in her house. JMO, the Gators will be highly motivated for this meet.

    Oklahoma: Oklahoma/Minnesota
    Auburn: Florida/Auburn
    NC State: Michigan/LSU
    Washington: Utah/Alabama

If the committee sticks to seeding, then we end up in the same regional with host Auburn and UCLA.
    Norman, Oklahoma
    1. Oklahoma
    8. Minnesota
    9. California
    16. Arizona State

    Raleigh, North Carolina:
    3. Michigan
    6. LSU
    10. Kentucky
    15. Denver
    30. NC State

    Auburn, Alabama
    2. Florida
    7. Auburn
    11. Missouri
    14. UCLA

    Seattle
    4. Utah
    5. Alabama
    12. Michigan State
    13. Oregon State
    25. Washington

If the committee was smart and considered attendance in the equation, well we've already proven we'd sell out Raleigh. The quad meet drew over 3,000 when NC State's home average is just over 1,000.

    2. Florida
    6. LSU
    10. Kentucky
    15. Denver
    30. NC State

    Auburn, Alabama
    3. Michigan
    7. Auburn
    11. Missouri
    14. UCLA
But I'm expecting the Gators will get the usual treatment and the toughest road out of the top 4 seeds- essentially an away meet at the most difficult home crowd against 2 other top SEC schools and a very dangerous UCLA squad. Meanwhile, this year's 4th seed will have the easiest route now that Alabama's top gymnast is injured and it being a "home" meet.

I still kinda think they get sent to Raleigh. Gonna be SEC teams all over, but I'm sure they want to spread it out as much as possible. I think we see Missouri or UK as a 3 seed regardless, so it's probably a bit of a wash.
As a 2, LSU or Aub at home....I might prefer Aub even at home. Think we already got their best shot.

Thought I read somewhere that once you get past the top 8 seeds that the remainder of the field is sprinkled around geographically. I'll see what I can find out. In any case, we'll see the field tomorrow.

You mixed up the s-curve. It should be 2/7/10/15, so UF, Auburn, Kentucky, Denver.

Which is not so bad. Not as easy as Oklahoma's region, but we would really have to fail to not advance IMO.

My bigger concern would be the potential pairings for day 1 of NCAAs:

If seeds hold, 2/3/6/7 (UF, Mich, LSU, Aub) seems a bit deeper than 1/4/5/8 (Okla/Utah/Bama/Minn)

Getting that one seed is important, especially now that Bama is without a key performer.

Is Luisa Blanco out now official?

The seed process is over now that the final NQS has been posted. UF is the 2 seed regardless of what the NCAA does with the regionals.

Bama went out 12 deep at the SECs, 2 all-around. Luisa Blanco?

AU went out 10 deep at the SECs, 3 all-around.

LSU went out 12 deep at the SECs, 2 all-around,

UF went out 9 deep at the SECs, but has more gymnasts developed and ready.

Mich has used 4 all-around all season long. They are the energizer bunny.

Minn doesn't lack depth, but has only 1 meet changer.

    OU doesn't lack depth.

    Utah doesn't lack depth.

The team that has to worry most about depth is Michigan. They cannot afford an injury to one of their top 4 gymnasts. No injuries and they will be tough to beat.

From the link in the tutorial thread:

"Thirty-six teams qualify to regionals using national qualifying score rankings. NQS is determined by taking a team’s top six scores, three of which must be away, dropping the high and averaging the remaining five. The top 16 teams by NQS are considered to be seeded. For placement, teams ranked Nos. 1, 8, 9 and 16 are seeded into one regional, Nos. 2, 7, 10 and 15 are in another, Nos. 3, 6, 11 and 14 in the third and Nos. 4, 5, 12 and 13 in the final regional. If there are host conflicts based on how teams finish the regular season, “the lowest seeded host in the group will be exchanged with a non-host that holds a spot not greater or less than two seeded positions (and preferably one position) when possible,” according to NCAA postseason rules. However, in 2019 Oregon State had to be shifted three positions due to conflicts in the first two adjusted scenarios. Teams outside the top 16 are placed geographically where possible."

"As for teams slated to compete in round one of regionals, technically any unseeded team could be tabbed to compete—but it typically works out where teams ranked Nos. 29 to 36 are distributed to each of the four regionals. However, there was controversy in 2021 when No. 26 N.C. State was selected to compete in round one while No. 29 Kent State skipped straight to day two. The Wolfpack ultimately got the last word, as it made it all the way to the regional final, finishing fourth."

As shown in my post #13, the NCAA has a free hand to do what they want to with seeds 17-36. The top 16 seeds are locked in. We won't know how the rest of the field is placed until tomorrow, 3/22:

    Oklahoma:

    1 Oklahoma
    8 Minnesota
    9 California
    16 Arizona State

    Auburn:

    2 Florida
    7 Auburn
    10 Kentucky
    15 Denver

    North Carolina State:

    3 Michigan
    6 LSU
    11 Missouri
    14 UCLA

    Washington:

    4 Utah
    5 Alabama
    12 Michigan State
    13 Oregon State

Florida has the easiest regional. Auburn will be tough at home, but the Gators have already withstood their historical high score best shot. The reason I say it is the easiest region is Kentucky is missing Bailey Bunn and Denver is missing since early in the season Linzie Brown. Bunn was one of UK's top gymnasts and Brown was one of the best gymnasts in the nation, both big losses.

Oklahoma has Minnesota, a team shown capable of hitting 198 with their best performance and California who finished the season strong.

Michigan has the hardest regional. LSU is full strength and can easily keep up with Michigan when performing their best. Missouri is capable of having a good meet, almost beat the Gators in Columbia. UCLA is one of my 2 dark horse teams to keep an eye on. They have had an up and down year, but when on they can be really good.

Utah has what has turned out to be the second-best team in the SEC, depends on if Luisa Blanco can go or not. For this analysis, I'm presuming she isn't as badly injured as feared. However, the Washington regional elevates to the easiest regional if Luisa Blanco is sidelined. Michigan State is my other dark horse team to watch.

I'm presuming "bump in the road" means Luisa Blanco is out for the regionals and nationals. If it is a high ankle sprain, no details, she is done for 2022.

Utah's path to nationals just got easier. Hopefully Alabama can put up the good fight. The Tide is not a one-performer team but losing Luisa Blanco will leave an unreplaceable hole in their scoring while putting a lot of pressure on the gymnast(s) who replace her in the lineups.
