Just my opinion, but I think the committee will note that FLORIDA is a much improved team since Briggs' departure. We've seen this done in the past on the men's side; not as familiar on the women's side, but the reasoning should be similar. From 10-4, 0-1 in the SEC, 0 wins over ranked teams vs. 7-2 all in SEC play including 5 wins against top 25 schools, 3 of which were on the road Very little chance that FLORIDA would be an 8-seed if the season ended today, in my opinion. I'm not going to begin to speculate on their upside, because they've blown me away already, just enjoying their run. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
back to back wins over ranked teams. We dismantled #7 Tenn, this ranking is more than well-deserved. We're definitely improving as the season progresses, a sign of great coaching and player development
That is accurate. Committee doesn't use RPI anymore though. We rate much more highly in systems looking only at wins/losses than those heavily emphasing MOV. NET is low because we had terrible scores against cupcakes in non-conference. Half a dozen games we "only" won by 15 (and that one we lost), where most top 25 teams are beating those teams by 40+. Plus, not just losing, but getting spanked by Towson. I don't think there is any recency factor built into the NET, but those early season results will still lose a bit of impact with each result if we maintain the current level. That said, it is always a question of how much stock they put in the raw NET. Usually it is mainly used to look at the quality of your opponents and classify them into Q1 wins, Q2 wins, etc. We have 6 Q1 wins which is very good (2 of the teams he has on the 7 line have only 1). For me, I'd probably at least put us on the 7 line today and I think we're in pretty good shape with the change to move up in NET and seeding if we keep up the pace.
