The irony of this poster calling someone else a middle school girl when she posts stupid memes. Too funny. It’s definitely a combo of being obtuse with you.
With title IX, the federal government should take a stand one way or another. They can still allow organizations to make their own decision about whether a trans female is allowed to compete on women’s teams. However, they need to decide if that is counted when comparing the opportunities for each sex. Whether the decision is given to the federal government or the sports organization/schools, it still needs to be clear what proof of sex or gender is required.
You mean like this: FACT SHEET: U.S. Department of Education's Proposed Change to its Title IX Regulations on Students' Eligibility for Athletic Teams | U.S. Department of Education
Yes, and this would be an example of the federal government telling schools what they are or are not allowed to do regarding transgender athletes. Kind of the opposite position of the 2 prior posts I responded to. My point is that one way or another, the federal government can’t just stand back and say do whatever you want.
You bring up a good point. The proposed rule would establish that policies violate Title IX when they categorically ban transgender students from participating on sports teams consistent with their gender identity just because of who they are. It seems like the Biden admin is hell bent on making this a federal issue. I’d support banning transgenders from femal sports before I’d support the changes to Title IX. But I really wish the federal govt would stay out of it, but I guess you can’t with Title IX. Perhaps Title IX needs to be reviewed at a higher level and whether we still need it.
They're taking the right approach. No categorical bans. Here's the discretion you have to set standards to maintain competitive fairness. That's reasonable.
So let's justify transgendering prepubescent children by establishing that as the fair and equitable way for trans women to compete in women's sports. Cut a confused and exploited little boy's genitals off so he can throw a ball around and make his sick parents proud and perpetuate a sick agenda when he's older. Pure evil.
Gender reassignment surgery doesn't happen until adulthood. And nobody is "transgendering" children. The children were born that way, express that to their family and medical experts, and go through a significant amount of counseling and diagnosis with trained healthcare professionals before any treatment starts. Kids don't pretend to be transgender so they can win at sports. you can refuse to accept reality, but it's not my job to humor your delusions.
I'm far more concerned with women bleeding out in hospitals because doctors are afraid to terminate their unviable fetuses than dudes winning a medal in girls' track. As always, the American right wants the public to focus on a non-issue so they can empty the federal coffers into the rich's pockets during the distraction.
Just my opinion (obviously), male to female transgender athletes who have gone through male puberty including Lia Thomas shouldn't be allowed to compete against women although I wouldn't be averse to exceptions under very strict guidelines. The prohibition shouldn't apply to MTF athletes who have been on puberty blockers and have never gone through male puberty. That being said the decision as to whether transgender athletes should be allowed to compete against genetic women should be left to the governing bodies of specific sports not politicians. Unlike apparently some posters to this board I do not have faith in politicians with no real expertise to make decisions way beyond their competence.
I agree that these decisions should be left to the governing bodies of sports, although I find it interesting that the track and field governing committees would bar Caster Semenya from certain competitions because her testosterone level is too high. She was born female and still is although her testosterone levels are obviously off the charts. She is a freak of nature, but so are a lot of other superstars who dominate their sports.
If a person doesn’t object to a bio female playing male sports, but does oppose bio male playing female sports….are they a nuanced bigot ?
Another case of an issue becoming politicized. Anyone, whether a Republican or Democrat, who thinks it is fair to have a male/female compete against a female, has no clue about athletics. To be equitable in any sport, athletes must compete on an even playing field. In my opinion, and that of many others, allowing transgenders to compete against women goes against the basic principles of Title IX as they pertain to athletics.
Damn, you are an expert on transgenders also, huh? Obviously young kids (or their parents forcing the issue) aren’t transgendering because they want to win at sports. But after undergoing the surgery after puberty, trans women, in fairness to other female athletes, should not be allowed to compete at the high school or collegiate level.
You’re right. It’s unfair. Also, black athletes shouldn’t be able to compete in basketball, Hispanics in baseball, South Koreans in women’s golf. Chinese in ping pong, Canadians in hockey, Japanese in sumo wrestling, and, last but not least, you in tiddlywinks.
If you categorically object to trans women playing women's sports, you are taking a bigoted stance. Have already laid out why this is a foolish and untenable stance driven by animus and ignorance.
It’s too good not to post again. There is no doubt Brady’s deflated “Balls” gave him an unfair advantage!
"Segregation is fine. The Black players can go play in the Negro Leagues." It makes perfect sense. When you're advocating for policy that is focused on punishing a group for their immutable characteristics rather than focusing on maintaining competitive fairness, you're being a bigot.
