What is the liklyhood of getting a 3-4 star out of high school and having the time to develop them into premier players? Seems to me that a player staying 4-5 years and develping is now a lost cause. ??
Will be true with about 50% of the players. With the advent of social media, the increase in recruiting ranking services, the camps, exposure, and publicity that players get in HS, everyone thinks they are destined for college stardom and the NFL. Combine that with an instant gratification society, and the prospect of telling players they may start by their third year or they need 2-3 offseasons to put on weight and develop before they are solid contributors isn’t going to go well. Before the portal, players only had one option: sit out if you want change. Now they have unlimited options on their first crack, and unlimited again if they get their degree before the second transfer (reason Emory Jones won’t sit out at Cincy). They all believe they are future NFL first rounders, but fewer are willing to put in the work that their prececesors did. And there’s still only 32 first round picks.
3 stars will go to a g5, develop and transfer up in year 3 and 4. High 4 and 5 stars go to top P5 schools and if they excel, go pro yr 3.
