My post was meant as humorous sarcasm! The election wasn't stolen in '20 and it won't be stolen in '24.

In all honesty, I am an infinitely better person than these two shitheads. My life will plow forward regardless. Always has and always will.

I think we could see a EC blow out if the polls are off one way or the other.

This is the only proper answer, and it doesn’t really matter who is running or how dangerous they might be. The democratic system if candidate choice is immensely more important than the identity of the candidate elected.

There was an excellent quote here some months back: the key element in a Democracy is that the losing candidate accepts the fact that he lost.

That might matter if the Republicans win, but I have been told, on this very site, that the EC is not the legitimate, democratic measure of who wins this election. So, yeah, if the Democrats win big in the EC but only take the popular vote in the 50%+\-2% range, then I shouldn’t hear any of them characterize it as a landslide. A win, of course. But not a landslide. I want to see 60% or more of the popular vote before anyone goes and claims a “mandate”.

Pretty high opinion of oneself given you actively undermine the very democracy you benefit from. Note taken.

If Trump wins the EC and not the popular vote, I would expect to hear that a lot more over the next four years.

Not this again. You mean like when people claimed SCOTUS would hand him the election in 2020 yet they shot him down at every turn?

Yes, but I think the institutional inertia is so hard to overcome.

60% is a high bar of course. Reagan won 49 states in 1984 yet received less than 60% of the popular vote. I do not expect to see a popular vote victory of 60% or more in my lifetime.

No. More like recently where they allowed a voter purge in Virginia well past the 90-day cutoff before Election Day deadline.
