The death threat thing actually happened. The shark thing is just dumb, and it’s even dumber that people still regularly talk about it like it’s really him.
And how does that alter your mind numbing comment about the whole game/night? I was commenting on your absolutely ridiculous comment, not if we win or lose the game
I wasn’t really implying that the threats themselves were real. The death threat thing was real though. Mac definitely brought up death threats in a PC, then refused to cooperate with an investigation about them. He was unemployed a week later. I can’t verify the threats themselves were real, but I certainly don’t know why he would make it up. He knew he f’d up by bringing it up in a PC when he just wanted sympathy and didn’t actually want anything done about it. Then he clammed up. I certainly wouldn’t put it past some members of our fanbase to do something like that. We have a very vocal sector of fans that are completely unhinged. Hell, the online attacks and threats caused one of our staff members just this year to have to remove all his social media pages.
And so, we can not say what is happening with these players versus what the remaining team feels. Hindsight is always 20/20. Foresight is never 20/20.
And that is the problem, once the narrative that you're in over your head sets in, its almost to change it.
What if we had brought Frankenstein's monster in? That could have given us a real jolt or at least him!
That is because some people think that change is always the answer and interject the rumor that a person is "over one's head" to "get the ball rolling". But change is rarely the answer. And you end up like us - paying people to do nothing. That is why the word (on the mean streets of Gainesville) is that the big-money boosters are tired of paying to change coaches and Napier will probably have a longer rope. Unless all the people who seem to want a change put their money in (probably borrowing a ton) to make the change. And most people do not have the money to make a change possible. I know I do not. The funny thing is that if you give a football coach 5 years almost all of them turn a program around. The process may be painful but it almost always works. The boosters just need patience. But - what will happen will happen!
Its not that way anymore, not at this level of competition. At Duke, yes sure. Here, if you don't show something in the first year or two, it goes haywire. Its still in his hands at the moment. Close on this class and keep it top 5. Hit the portal hard enough to get a winning record next season and he has a chance. He'll have some momentum going into year 4. If he loses the class, craters next year, what makes anyone think 25 will be better.
we better see a different team against Miami. It won’t change game one but next year better show some progression. First, we gotta keep his class together
It’s been that way for two years, but the “explanation” was they were bad eggs or didn’t want to buy in to the “process”. Maybe the process sucks and they could see it?
I can’t believe our D has that much less talent than say Auburn. Scheme helps hide talent issues. If a coach can figure it out.
