I don’t mind the end game foul strategy i do mind routinely seeing 25 plus fouls a half - many being called on what seems like inconsequential contact.
It's tailor-made for Mike. He starts deflating the ball at the 10-minute mark. Start of the 4th quarter.
I'm thinking the other way. Give him a break to think about it and he might come up with a different strategy. We are talking about the momentum killer. He might even come up with better in bounds plays and force some fouls on lay ups. If anything he might wait until the 5 minute mark to pull it back. With another quarter reset he might think his guys still have so-me energy to make a run before the great fall happens late.
I was more thinking he could milk it with a couple minutes left in each quarter, without trying to do it for 10+ minutes at a time.
Let's see... basketball played all around the world at every level from men to women, from HS to NBA all play 4 quarters except for one league - NCAA men's basketball. It's dumb and should be changed to quarters. For example, what if college football was just 2 halves at 30 minutes each?
He'd go into a shell holding onto the lead in the 2nd Qtr. instead of the 2nd half. Then fans could leave at halftime since the game would already be determined.
it is generally acknowledged that Mike White’s forte is the inbounds play. So, if the college game was changed to 80 30-second periods, would that result in Mike White becoming one of the best college basketball coaches in the country?
