I certainly hope so. I am really tired of how many games come down to a free throw shooting contest in the final minutes

They would still come down to FTs in the final minutes, that isn’t changing. The only thing the 10 minute quarter does is to change when the TV timeouts are essentially. Which by the way is why they won’t go to it, if you did one a quarter, you lose a TV break (that would be three a half, right now they have four). If you did two a quarter you extend the games by five minutes or more, which TV doesn’t want either.

I hate the 10 minute quarters. Takes the rythym out of the game. Four chances to burn clock if you get an early lead.

The end of the game nonsense is never going to stop.

so lets just make it 10 4 minute quarters although I guess they would need to come up with a new name instead of quarters on account its more than 4.

Gee, the NBA doesn't have a problem with 1/4's.
If you don't like burning the clock, put in a 24 sec. shot clock. Long overdue.

I'd like to see it, I don't think it would change much, instead of a media time out at 8 it would be at 10...big whoop.

And you give a point to each 4 minute winner, with 5 points going to the overall winner.

why do you feel quarters would change the end of game fouling?

Actually, I wish the women's game would go to 2 halves. Or 3 halves, that'd be even better.

We need peach baskets and a jump ball after every basket.

    There are .media timeouts at 16, 12, 8, and 4. That's 4 mid-half commercial breaks.

What would they do with quarters? A 5 min MTO, would only be 3 mid-half runs and money won't like that. MTO every 3:33 to make it 5 breaks?

It’d be tough for teams to be in double bonus with 10 mins left - assuming team fouls reset each Q

2 shots at five fouls on the women’s side.

gotcha. But I think teams will still foul to extend games in the final minutes. The only way around that would be the Elam Ending… which I love, but would be far too radical of a change.

As you stated, this is likely way too radical. Seems to me that if you give the team that is fouled the option to take the ball instead of shooting free throws, it would help a lot.

While I get that some hate the endings where the team that's behind fouls continually and the game drags on.....counter arguments are:

    1. There are many occasions when that strategy actually pays off and makes for an exciting ending

    2. There are also those times when the losing team realizes there's no way they can win at this point and doesn't participate in that nonsense.....I really enjoy those endings when one team completely dominates!

If we went to four quarters Mike White would be even more lost with no second half to give away the big lead.

I was thinking it would be perfect for and encourage his style of play.
