i read this post and couldn't believe you stated as fact CBN is on the hot seat. Also, you seem to like starting threads casting doubt about our recruiting . it seems you are one of the very few who believe this. IMO, i personally dont think you believe CBN is on the hot seat nor do I believe you think our recruiting is suffering, It just seems to me you would really like CBN to be on the hot seat and also our recruiting to be in the crapper. Maybe if you post that often enough it will come to pass, which is your ultimate goal
This is where I am. I do not believe it is very accurate to say our shortcomings under Napier are purely due to program building. We have had way too many problems with direct coaching to just blame the overall program. So the question should not be will building a program work? The question is will Napier make all the coaching changes he needs to be successful by the time his anticipated program building arrives?
Are you being a bit snarky with one of our little troll buddies again? Good...if everyone sent the nebbishes to the cornfield (like me), there wouldn't be any available for recreational derision. I applaud your foresight and forbearance.
I always support our coaches until they are beyond supportable. I wouldn’t even consider his seat height until the end of next year. If it looks really bad, I’m not saying we have to sell out our souls for this thing, but they do have to try to win. If they’re going to be happy being South Carolina, Mississippi State Vandy all that. I’ll still watch if I don’t have a fishing trip lined up but I won’t spend thousands of dollars to go watch us get her ass beat. Hopefully they’re spending the same amount of money that at least the top 20 teams are spending. We should at least be able to keep a ranked team and have a possible chance to win against the teams.
They'll try, but I don't see us going completely crazy like some people. The smart programs will hedge for a few years until things shake out a little.
What’s the point of having a thread entitled “can building a program work” and then expect folks to not answer it. You guys expect that we all just say “go gators” then the discussions get kinda dull right? I chime in just like anyone else does, no more or less. And I’m fair. I spend money with the collective, go to the games, cheer when we win and I’m fair when we lose. I JUST posted a thread about having hope for this style of offense after watching Mizzou. I’m not a beat a dead horse guy. If I see something that looks interesting on here, I chime in. Idk why I’m getting singled out here. I’ve been as fair about this hire and as hopeful as anyone. I’ve said it’s going to be a 3-5 year rebuild but that we should see results sooner on the field and we haven’t so far. My concern from the start was - if you don’t expect to mask talent gaps with scheme and you lose 6-7 a year, you may not get to a point where you know if he’s a good coach or not. I stand by that. There are coaches that do that and they win quicker. I’m not saying anything about the offense that isn’t said by a million other gator fans including SOS, Shane and at least 4 other former players I’m friends with.
Mac deserves some credit for what he did. But he did not have a good record against quality opponents. 2015 Tennessee and Ole Miss and 2016 LSU... that's about it. Generally when we played top 10 teams, they wouldn't just beat us, they would curb stomp us. The passing game was a big improvement from where we were under Muschamp, but things probably weren't going to get much better. The Defense he had from the first two years was gone.
That was long winded way of saying I repeat myself. Criticism is fine, constant criticism is just bitching.
