Must be using robocalls as that would have to be a large and expensive mailing to actually send threatening letters, since we don't actually know who is making the ST calls.
I didn't think he was an actual coach. He's called the ST coordinator, but I don't think he's an onfield coach, so it's up to someone else to be paying attention and get them on the field.
I would say a lot of fan bases are impatient, UF fans are no different. We live in a culture of what have you done for me lately. Speaking for me, I knew with our schedule there would be losses and maybe many gator fans thought the same. But it’s not the loses but how we are losing. I want to see steady improvements rather than regression. BN seems very hands on and meticulous and yet too many times we come out flat and seemingly unprepared. Play calling way too conservative. Red zone issues. Too many men on field, too few, 2 guys with same numbers, continued penalties when discipline is stressed. These are coaching issues. As to the offense we’re probably one of the worst in the SEC and it’s year 2. No, I think BN should indeed be given another year and I hope and expect he will make off season changes but at some point coaching better has to be translated on the field.
What would you called 13 players on the field on defense or his DC asking for a time out when there isn't any and others too many to mentioned here.
Rebuilding a program is a necessity. Rebuilding it at a plodding process driven pace is not. NIL and the portal have changed everything. Florida is a big name, Billy is trying to get his name bigger (In a good way) Does he have the ability to attract big name recruits and assistants yet? Time will tell, but I think the entire staff is going to be sleepless as we enter recruiting season. I agree with SDS article that he really needs some stud recruiters to change the dynamic, especially on the OL.
Off the field assistant, but probably still coaching per se. It was nice to see every media site and lots of Gator greats pushing that this nonsense was unacceptable and needed to stop.
How excited would we have been if we were told that it was reasonable to expect that we would start winning in Napier’s fourth year ? Granted, it could happen this year, though it is looking doubtful. And the 2024 schedule is scary.
Woah! That is...breathtaking. I'm not sure there is a person who could generate the amount of sputum to cover Chris, Brandon, Earl and all those folks Meyer came to Florida to coach. Of the 24 starters who played on our 2006 MNC team, 22 were not recruited by Urban. That alone is a monumental tribute to Coach Meyer.
I wish this were not so, but at this rate he won’t get five years. If he does not start consistently beating the middling SEC teams, like Vanderbilt this weekend, I doubt he’ll get a full three. Winning against the Kentuckys, Missouris, and South Carolinas (including and especially on the road) has taken on more urgency than getting an occasional upset against Tennessee, LSU et al.
Scott Frost fired at Nebraska UCLA gave Kelly time ok results to date F$U giving norv time Im waiting for the season to play out. Cannot have a weekly referendum —-If that is you leave now NOTHING is changing this season barring injuries. Same offense, same play calling, same slower pace. New QB, FG kicker, defense, oline starters.
So unless we have sprouted a ST coach from the aether, I know this claim is either completely BS or (more believably) some fans are shouting threats at air.
I never expected us to compete for titles this year, but against Kentucky we weren't even competitive. I agree that we're seeing issues that come down to coaching, plain and simple, over and over again as you point out. I just want us to look like we're prepared and interested. South Carolina last season and the first half of Tennessee showed that it can be done. But over the last 1 and a half seasons we've played a complete game 1 and a half times. That doesn't cut it.
I could understand if they go that way. Maybe there’s room for two Vandy’s in the sec. I’ll still be a fan but I won’t be traveling to Gainesville to support it. I’ve got better things to do with my time than support half ass effort. Looks to me they are trying to compete though. We will see. If they roll over, I’ll find something else to occupy my saturdays
Simply untrue. I am no fan of today’s Urban Meyer, but the turnaround he initiated in 2005 (a year before Tebow) spoke for itself. I don’t think we are necessarily winning a championship in 2006 without Tebow, but I do think that we were looking at a 12-2 season, SEC Championship, and quality bowl win with Jevan Snead as Chris Leak’s backup. But you never know what would have happened.
But if he's not allowed to be on the sideline and make the coaching decisions, he's not really the ST coach. Even if he's in the coaches box, he can't do anything about the too many men on the field, the too few men on the field, the too many men wearing the same number. That's the responsibility of whoever is sending them onto the field.
There is a good Saturday Down South article posted in another thread some might not have seen. A deep dive into Billy Napier's slow rebuild at Florida, and all the frustrations coming with it Relevant to the discussions in this thread too.
