You are cracking me up. The Millennium Falcon ran on refined coaxium or hyper-fuel. John Wick deflected bullets with his light weight Hugo Boss sportscoat about 50 times in the last movie. So, a gas refinery built out of scraps makes total sense in that world. The acting... well, I am not sure Dennis Hopper ever was a good actor so Ill grant you there is some awkward acting. This movie gets extra hate cause it was expensive and didnt do well at the box office but there are a million worse movies... Barbie has to deliver a decent time to beat out a mediocre road warrior on water.

I dont think there is any fictional character is more of a capitalist than Barbie. She has cool designer clothes, owns cars, houses, pools, has professional careers, and is worth $700B in brand value.

Presuming that movie lives up to its promise, which obviously hasn't been determined yet, it would be a shame if it got caught in a culture war. If it really captures issues about living in a contrived world versus encountering the realities of mortality, it would be ashamed if it was ignored by a substantial portion of the population

Barbie tries to shed her privileged image in this story.
That's why Margot keeps saying "It's not what you think".
Mattel are the capitalists...but now capitalizing on ESG.

Now you’re bagging on Dennis Hopper? Easy Rider? Hoosiers?! Take a lap.

and quit comparing this to Star Wars. Waterworld is set on EARTH. A post apocalyptic one but still. It should require less suspension of disbelief for that reason and yet it’s still ten times more ridiculous.

When I would complain about how unbelievable it was in The Walking Dead, that for years they seemed to have an unlimited supply of gasoline and bullets, my wife would remind me that I’m watching a show about zombies.

This is true. The brand also branched out and made Barbie into a modest and thoughtful character. Both my girls, separated by 8 years, loved Barbie in the Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel and Barbie of Swan Lake. I watch everything with my kids and I’ve seen each of these way too many times! True story of not having boys.

Watch “the last of us” if you haven’t. Far superior zombie show, IMO
