I'm a geriatric millennial, or depending on what chart you look at, late gen-x. It's still early for Gen Z - so I wouldn't grade them on anything yet.
But I mean...
The world's fastest man? A Millennial. best swimmer ever? A millennial.
The gators won 2 titles in 2006 and 2008 - all those guys? Millennials.
I mean you can go and check the records - but Millennials have done alright by sports standards. IDK what you're looking for though.

yo. do you remember the 14ers you've climbed? I've climbed a few. Bierstadt, Quandary, Grays, Torreys, Democrat, Lincoln, Sherman, Bross & Evans. Pretty embarrassing given I've been here 20 years. Climbed none in the last few years. planning to hit a few this summer, but will prob revisit a few of those above.

funny story. At the end of 5th grade my daughter came home with a picture thingy stating what she wanted to do over the summer. 1 on her list was climb a 14er. We headed to the hills, got up at 5am & were heading to the trailhead of Sherman when my daughter finally decided to ask, "Dad, what's a 14er?"

 

1) Mr Pyramid. We didn’t set out to do it but we’re climbing outside of Crested Butte saw it and decided to drive to Aspen/Snowmass to do it. Was a ninety mile drive but only a seven mile hike from the peak of where we camped.

2) Then Mr Elbert by Leadville. We originally went out to do the Leadville 100 and then like it so much came back to climb it.

Guess that’s it but messed around hiking in CO quire a bit

 

Elbert is 1 I really wanna knock off. I think it is the highest. Did you do the Leadville 100? that seems INSANE!! I watched some folks finishing the big one outta Silverton (hardrock??) then back at my campsite at 9300 ft watched lights (headlamps) coming down from way above & then passed a bunch the next day hiking to Ice Lakes. Freaking crazy!!

'nother funny story. Was in Silverton & a guy & gal were on ladders painting a building. As I walked by, I heard 1 of em say, I ran a marathon last weekend & the other said, Oh, are you training for a long race.

 

Yeah my buddy was a bad influence. I was a high level cyclist but strictly road and he lived in Atlanta and did it all. It was brutal. Mt. Bikers have a way different skill set and it took Lance freaking Armstrong to win against them. I sucked but finished. The aforementioned friend wanted me to do the Western States 100 but I draw the line at torture.

Hey if you average my 2 hikes together they were 88 miles apiece, 160 miles the first time and 18 miles the 2nd time.

Huh I totally forgot that. I thought it was only the western states I looked at the 2022 results. Winning time is 16 hours but a fast time is 24hrs plus. I looked down the list and the 500 hundredth finisher was doing it in 3 days.

Seriously though I made 3 or 4 huge miscalculations on that hike.....1. Long distance hiking is a lot easier at age 14 than at age 70. 2. Check the weather before you start. I knew it would be cold and rainy on the first day but never dreamed everything would be frozen over the next morning. 3. If you are gonna hike with a dog get the dog designated a support dog first. When the Lynn Foot Hikers Inn turned me away because they don't allow dogs knowing the weather conditions, it was a spirit breaker. 4. I won't mention, it involves chronic diarrhea lol.
