Let's take it easy on Sonny's. Back in the day, before Coach White, before Billy, before Lon, before Don Devoe, before Stormin' Norman, before even John Lotz, when Gator basketball SUCKED IN ALL CAPS, there was Sonny Tillman at courtside for every home game. Tremendous Gator supporter. A little respect, please.

Sonny’s was my go to restaurant when I moved to Gainesville in 1972. For a student with no money, there was nothing better than the Sonny’s $1.30 lunch special which included the refillable quart drink. It did piss me off when the drink got eliminated from the lunch special, but by then my wife had graduated from UF and was making $2.10 an hour at Pic N’ Save, so we were living the high life. As the years passed, a bunch of other barbecue restaurants sprung up whose ribs surpassed Sonny’s ribs, but I would still go to Sonny’s on occasion.

Correction, I moved to Gainesville in 1972, not 1982.

Sonny’s for the money, the best. Name one that gives you garlic bread, baked beans, cole slaw and fries, sliced pork that is tender and smoked. Ribs are good too. I been to there’s in Gainseville everyone says is better, debatable. My opinion, fyi!
I don’t get to eat there very much anymore due to living in Tennessee. Bar b q up here doesn’t even compare to Sonny’s. I have heard that some of the Sonny’s have been getting slack, but when I come down I-75, I like to stop in Perry, Ga, this one has stayed consistent. Great memories of eating at the all you can eat ribs once a week at the restaurant on NE 39th near Santa Fe CC. This as a student would be my biggest meal of the week.

I went to every sports event there was at UF other than golf, although I played golf at the University course with the Gator golfers. My friend, Bobby Heins, was on the Gator golf team, and I moved into his room in Yon Hall for a while before I started law school. I even went to the wrestling matches. And, I went to the Gator basketball practices. Add to that, my playing tons of basketball, softball, flag football and tennis (plus throw in a lot of pinball and partying), and it’s a miracle that I became a lawyer.

You have just gone up a lot in my estimation.

    Favorite table?

I few years ago I went to the Fernandina Beach pinball museum where you get to play about 20 different tables. Set fee to get in and unlimited play.

Speaking of upsets, ND beat uk today in South Bend.
Just goes to show that any team can defeat any team on any given night.

I can only imagine all the Farrr Cal threads up on RR.
It's okay though, because the next time they win a game it will be CaLs a LeGeNd, gOat!

Yeah if you go to Rupp’s Rafters you will see several threads criticizing Calipari and wanting him gone. Makes me look like White’s biggest supporter in comparison to how the fans feel about Calipari. Lol
UK’s Tshiebwe is a beast. Definitely a nightmare matchup problem when UK/Florida play this season. He will absolutely eat Castleton’s lunch as bad as I hate to admit. Plus there is talk of UK adding Sharpe next semester which could bolster their inside game. But other than Tshiebwe, Florida and Kentucky would otherwise be a good matchup.

We would go to all the all you can eat places back in the day in Gville. Tony and Pat’s all you could eat pizza, pasta, … was next to the old CJs, Sonny’s, was it Ryans Steak house with the all you could eat buffet near the airport. We knew all the deals at the time.
