Washington. Not looking forward to a smug Harbaugh if Mich wins.

Both teams have a few things in common. They both also know how to tackle in the open field, one-on-one, as we all saw unfold in yesterdays games. These two teams also had defenses with relentless pursuit of the ball carrier and the receivers.

It seems that simple... yet so many teams find that so hard to teach, and too many teams walk though the motions pretending to actually develop these young men. These players deserve true basic skills. Basic skills are not really basic in it's complexity and toughness, but learning the fundamentals like the basics are rarely mastered.

We need to master the basics... like Michigan and Washington have on defense.

Completely agree on all points. UW should have run the ball or taken a knee on 3rd down prior to their last field goal forcing UT to burn another timeout and also should have either taken a knee or let Penix scramble around in the backfield prior to taking a knee on every play on their last drive!

These days cheaters seem to always win so I’m thinking it will be Michigan.

Why does everyone say that Michigan was stealing signals. It’s DL was just brutalizing Bama and it’s DL’s stuck to Bama’s WR’s like glue. They’re just a better team than Bama.

Pulling for Washington, but I expect Michigan to win, since I can't stand their coach.

Because they were caught doing it. Notice how Michigan stopped their lawsuit against the B1G when they actually saw the evidence and realized it would be made public at trial. Conferences don't suspend coaches for nothing.

Your observations about Michigan’s DL and DB’s are spot on.
Completely unrelated to the FACT that Michigan was caught - and convicted - of cheating by having an employee steal other teams signals.
    So, yes… Michigan is good.
    And, yes… Harbaugh is scum.

I think Michigan got its playoff yips over, but they are probably still arrogant enough to think that Washington is not up to their standards. Washington is a damn tough team.

This feels like 2006 all over again.

That was one two things that impressed me about the 2 games yesterday. The other was Michigan's defense. Penix is extremely accurate with his deep throws and his receivers have glue-hands in traffic. But Michigan's defensive front abused Alabama's offensive line, plus their secondary is very good. I don't think Washington will be able to fly up and down the field on them, but I think they can score points on anybody. The key could be Washington's defense vs. Michigan's offense. I'm pulling for Washington, but have a feeling the Wolverines might have a team that is a little more complete. Washington has the better field goal kicker and that could be a difference.

I used to like Michigan when three players from Titusville High (my high school) School's back to back state championship teams (82 an 83) were recruited by and played for Michigan.

Since that time I have grown to not liked them, in particular the Harbaugh years.

I think Washington as been undervalued by the talking heads and they have a chip on their shoulder. I am going with Washington.

OT: I posted this in the game thread too so more would see it . . . but I watched on one of the ESPN channels (not ESPN main) and got the main camera angle from behind the plays from the broadcast but NO announcers and just stadium noise like you're there (PA announcer, etc.). It was great, IMO. I'll look for it for the national championship game.
