I hate losing him if it was due to making him play inside. He was a source of positivity when recruits were defecting and players were transferring. He also committed early as a recruit and didn't play games. Hope he thrives wherever he goes. He was 2nd team freshman all sec at edge. Was there no other choice than to move him inside?
I Think it's safe to say most of us liked that kid. It's unfortunate that he has to move on, but he hast to do what's right for him. Good luck
Posted in swampgas but it's locked so I'll repost my comment here . I just don't like the pattern here. We blew off the loss of McLellan in similar fashion. Flashed his freshman year and then disappeared his sophomore year before transferring and doing well at Missouri now. APR apparently tly had a locker room issue and had to leave but he lead the country in sacks or was near the top the past two seasons at vatech. Now kelby.... Why are we so dismissive about losing talent on the defensive line?
He's a tweener and got passed by other guys. Right now his best fit is probably as a 4-3 DE. It didn't workout at UF, but as you said, he was great locker room guy. Hope he crushes it wherever he goes.
I think we all saw it coming. Something weird seemed to happen here. I don’t know if it was just the position change, weight gain, or what. I had high hopes for him.
Can someone help me with this. Why didn't we see more of him this year? Is it as simple as he was moved inside and didn't have the size to play interior DL? And what is it with his tweet about the receipt and "The Right People Will Stay to Figure It Out?"
Hes talented but not playing for whatever reason and our defense got better. Id think we could use him but he needs to be featured more for his own good. Id think he could work his wY into snaps but he has two years to secure his future. I hope he has simalar results as some others who left. Work kid and secure your future.
It's a discussion board. Again, we've seen a lot of productivity leave over the years and do very well elsewhere particularly from defense. It's just a commentary and a question. Is that a normal amount of production to send off elsewhere compared to other programs? I don't know.
It’s just the portal process. McCellan was a good Fr., but didn’t progress and was passed by others his So. year. Same thing this season with Collins. These situations will result in transfers a lot of the time in today’s college football environment. It is what it is. For McCellen’s season. I was told he flashed early, but got quit the last half of the season. Anyway, how did UFs DL end up this year?
You seem to think fans on a message board shouldn’t be so dismissive, and that we’ve made a habit of blowing off these types of losses. What exactly is the alternative? Should we mourn? He’s still leaving. Or maybe he’s not, I don’t know. One thing I do know is it won’t be because I was dismissive or you weren’t.
Happy with the progress of the line. Happy with the recruiting class. Just curious as to why guys are flashing their freshman years with frequency only to hear they stagnated and then be productive elsewhere. Guess system fits could be a reasonable answer but then that's why teams recruit player types to fill those spots to begin with.
Football fans on forums are generally more inquisitive about details than casual fans. Just curious as to why we are "dismissive" to a potential symptom of a problem when we dissect so many other aspects of the game, recruiting, staff, etc. No more no less. Just curiosity after multiple occurrences of a similar nature.
But from limited knowledge of his character, he dorsnt seem like a peckerwood. I wish he could stay at this point.
