Bingo. He ain’t the only one either. Disheartening to see some entertaining his non developing ass. But some stupid money being thrown around.
Absolutely. And the common fan that fills the stadium probably will remain relatively uninformed about who leaves and why unless they go to rivals like Etienne. I doubt 90% of the stadium have any idea who Hopper, APR or McMillan are. But we are in the early stages of this mess and unless it gets some restrictions I think the player defections and "holdouts" are going to have some affect on a portion of the fan base. I never missed a game until recent years. Some of that is getting older and changing priorities but some of that is realizing how ridiculous it is to take any value in rooting for players who have zero loyalty to a school, team, fan etc. I enjoy the NFL because it's just an entertaining product but I could never buy a players jersey, argue over a team, or brag about a title because it's just a corporation with different colors I'd be rooting for. To each their own
Pyburn in the portal is wild. I don't think I like portal season. Some kids are looking for a bigger paycheck while others are looking for more playing time. Some kids want to test the market while others want to test the NFL waters. I still love spring camp, fall camp and gameday ... but building the roster is awful.
Very interesting points. I'm actually not sure at all if the average fan is as involved as we are here. I do know that the people that sit around me in the stadium definitely are. Would be interesting to know if that applies on a larger scale. I am not a fan of the NFL at all, except to follow the progress of Gators that stuck it out here.
I'm afraid that the kids in the portal that are looking for more playing time are mostly looking for a bigger paycheck. So, it's six of one or a half-dozen of the other.
Not that this is true, but let’s assume it is….yea he can keep it moving. Man got his first two career sacks against FSU. Yea we good
If this is the case, kick rocks homie. You weren’t even a good support player before about game 7 or 8. You ain’t Alex Brown bro
The old model was pyburn would stay at uf with a scholarship equal to every other player. He would graduate with a major of …? I can’t find it online! The official uf site only lists his stats, not his major. What does that tell you by the way? Say it is psychology- what is his salary? Now he sees folks getting $750k plus, and maybe he is offered that somewhere else. I don’t know pyburn but I can’t imagine not thinking “this is a business decision.” Hard to blame him for exploring. As for a "one way street", uf can offer him more to keep him. But like pyburn, it may be a business decision to UF to spend $ elsewhere. It is a 2 way street. We all claim to love capitalism and that is what we have - everybody making decisions based on their interests. It is clear, understandable and deeply unsatisfying for fans. We need some system (collective bargaining) that puts guard rails on the mercenary aspect of all this in my opinion. Will close by asking if folks consider our transfers in (badger, dike) in the same way as transfers out? Are they mercenaries too, just ours? Lots to unpack here…
Thought 247 has a picture of him but the article talks about Keyshawn silver…my mistake. https://247sports.com/college/flori...keeshawn-silver-on-official-visit--241768847/
Bring back the rule that if a player transfers they have to sit out a year...it would help curb some of the portal jumping not all of it but some.
Do your negotiations in private. If UF doesn’t meet your demands, then move on. By airing it out in public, he looks petulant. Be a professional
