Jakobi can play....got no problem with him getting snaps. Webb to me seems like the tough yardage/best blocking/good receiver option but lacks the big play threat of the others
I also had concerns about the sophomore dips - but after thinking about it, Searcy played a ton this year and improved as the year went on. I’d be more concerned if Collins and Searcy disappeared after nice freshmen seasons. I also lose less sleep when guys transfer that were recruited by prior coaching staffs or position coaches. Guys like Hopper, APR, McMillon, etc came in under Mullen. J Jackson is super tight with Corey Raymond who is gone (rumor is Raymond tampered with Jackson and we likely see him at LSU), Collins committed to coach Spencer who is gone, etc. in this day and age it is super easy to transfer so I understand these scenarios more than some others. I hate losing Collins. I think he disliked getting moved inside. If this was pre transfer portal era, he may sit for a year or two and bulk up and become a Jonathan Bullard type who also played outside early but alas, easy to move on these days.
I feel highly confident in that assertion. I can still see their recruiting profiles on our list from way back when in my head. I believe one of them was rated as a three star as well.
I mean, cash considerations aside, why would anyone really want to transfer from a school where he has been relegated to backup to a school where he would remain a backup? Seems like it would be a lateral move.
Not sure what happened here. It seems like he wanted to be more of a receiver, but even then, blocking was an issue.
With Boardingham out, it opens the door for Amir Jackson to step in as our pass receiving TE for next year.
OOF!! That's so crazy as to be almost unbelievable, but it is Mullen we are talking about. Chase probably made the mistake of trying to wrap up his commitment outside of Mullen's "recruiting season" whenever the hell that was.
I can see him transferring to a team where he can start. If he just wants to back up an underclassman, why not just stay at ATM.
Robinson was a stud though...damn shame he had health issues or he might have really balled out in Mullen's offense.
I don't remember Jefferson. It was the other WR out of the panhandle that really didn't pan out that well here and transferred.
Hence the problem getting a good QB through the transfer portal. Nobody is coming to UF to start over the next 2 seasons. This explains why we will be in a similar boat if not worse than last season as I doubt Jones is near as good as Lagway coming in as a true freshman. Maybe the former 5-star QB transferring from Liberty who started at UTn. UF could use a competitive step up at 3rd string. He won't start over Laqway, but he may want to go out with his last hurrah participating in the SEC.
Wasn't he hurt, a knee or something, sat out a season? If this is who I'm thinking of, I love the guy. Glad he recovered.
