Mclellan, Hopper, APR and now kelby. Guess kelby bothers me more because he came in as such a team character guy. We know diabate had issues with discipline on field assignments but he's playing significant minutes in the NFL now. McMillan has played well for Pitt while we struggled with the safety position over recent years. I get it. It's the day and age of today's transfer portal but it's the freshman flash followed by the sophomore disappearance that got my attention.
How many transfers are we talking about? Again, on McCellen, I was told by a Missouri friend he got silent once they started playing the top SEC teams the last 5-6 games. How many guys aren't fits?
I’m dismissive, because what else do you want me to be? Guys come and guys go, it’s part of the game. This guy had a huge loss of production this year and appears to have been passed over. I think the drop off in production likely has to do with the position change, but that doesn’t necessarily guarantee he would have been productive if there was no change. The staff thought the change was the right move, and he agreed, or at least went along with it. It didn’t work out. If it works out for him somewhere else, great, but I’m moving on unless he decides to come back. Just like with coaches, they’re my guy until they aren’t. If you want to transfer, that’s your prerogative. I won’t waste too much time worrying about you after you’re gone, and don’t see why anyone else should either. The constant “what could have been” ‘s about every guy who has some success elsewhere are tiresome and futile. What could have been—>simply wasn’t. I’m generally pretty dismissive about all the things I have no control over.
Apr? Im brain dead when you spell the entire name. I liked Kelby but its crowded and more are coming. He can still play on sundays and i hope he does. Hopper will and he never had a big mouth. He just went on about his business and i tepect tgat.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland. Had a very good career at VT. I only know this because a handful of us gator fans have a hard time letting go.
He was decent here to but a tweener and competition. Houston was one that puzzled me a frw years ago. He couldnt see the field but was the nfl sack leader late in his rookie season on sunday. Mullen was an idiot.
You're dismissive about transfers but not about being a board marm about people's sentiments. So edgy
Maybe there's something to be said of the sophomore jinx. Really, though, we kind of had to play him last year more than he should've and that's not ideal for line of scrimmage positions. You expect talented DL to begin flashing by sophomore season (or even better RS Fr season), then you figure they are ready to really contribute by JR(RS So) season. That's when you know you've built a program but I guess those days are over as people transfer out. Then again, those are the types to bring in via portal too. UF has done pretty well in that regard...so far. It should not be surprising when underclassmen like APR or McClellan leave and do well elsewhere. They are older and they should. I think Collins will be, at worst, a solid DL wherever he ends up next year.
Just maybe being a bit dismissive as we really havent list much over the last few years. Theres some outliers but for tge most part weve done well as far as in and out. Kids that cant make the two deep are understandable. Only a handful getting legit snaps left.
We didn't seem to have anyone to play inside. Look how many snaps Watson had despite poor production.
People seem to forget Watson gets the double team almost every time. What he does doesn’t show up in his stat line, but everyone else who is able to beat their one v ones.
