    You are spot on.
So sad but the libbies and their bleeding hearts are to blame.

I just read the articles. Can someone point me to the place where "they" are blaming the gun?

I did two post above yours. There is a quote out of the article that brings it up. Why do you even question it when it is the go to in every case?
Yes, the liberals and their press.

Obviously the gun had nothing to do with it. He could have just easily killed the officer with a baseball bat or a knife.

A history of lawbreaking and violence? Probably should have been a cop.

Not sure why this particular case piqued interest, but the article says the guy got out in ‘21 after 5 years in prison.

I’m all for increasing penalties for career offenders. Obviously THIS guy committed a murder, but I’m not sure what basis you are saying “he shouldn’t have been free”, other than the hindsight of knowing his latest crime, which presumably would get him life if convicted.

Likewise I’m not sure why the gun angle should be ignored. Shouldn’t it be investigated how and where a felon obtained the gun? As with almost all such cases, you can bet it was a stolen gun (and probably started life outside the jurisdiction, in a place where gun laws are lax). Conservatives love to rail on Chicago (as another example) but like half the guns involved in Chicago gun crime come from Indiana. Perhaps you should consider why that is so.

Apparently he's in favor of a one strike and you're out law, if you commit a crime, that's it, we have to pay to keep you in prison until you die

The gun can't do anything unless someone uses it. No different than a car. Do you blame the car when someone runs over a person? But blame the gun if it makes you feel better. The person killed the police officer no matter how he did it.

The guy was arrested 21 times. What does that have to do with one strike. He was convicted of trying to kill someone. You fit right in with liberal thinking. All is good until one of them kills your family member.

I guess it must be a 'liberal' thing - thinking that people shouldnt be deprived of their freedom because they might do something or because they were arrested but there wasnt enough evidence to convict them ... what do you call your thinking being for a police state? We have the most people in prison of any country in the world per capita or total numbers, and its not enough for you? American is really good at putting people in prison, for a long time, but we need to do it better?

Of course the murder was senseless in a city where crime is down, but to blame it on liberals is just ..... well, stupid. Crime and senseless killings have resisted reform under all administrations since time immemorial. Where are the OP's FACTS that liberal policies - as opposed to the Constitution and 200 years of cases interpreting it - had anything to do with why this guy was out on the streets?

    These aren't mutually exclusive things.

The politicians you vote for help ensure that it's easy for people like him to be armed.

Do people I vote for keep folks like him on the street when they should be incarcerated? I don't really think so. Maybe? I'll listen.
