Buford lost their best O-Lineman (Brayden Jacobs) to Milton. Their QB is Raiola's little brother and he's not nearly as good. Weak arm and the coaches don't trust him.

    Buford is overrated this year.

My high school, Miami Carol City, sent 12 players to D1 scholarships in 1976/77.

    SouthCarolina-2
    Duke
    Tenn.
    Oregon
    Miami-3
    FSU-1
    Kansas
    OK
    Illinois

John Swain, Lester Williams and Freddie Nixon all played in the NFL.

Coach Red Anderson was a Gator.

In 1976, Miami Carol City High School played in its first state championship game. The Chiefs were coached by Jerry "Red " Anderson, who put the program on the map as a state power. Although Carol City lost to Tallahassee Godby in the 4A championship game, the 1976 Chiefs boasted a remarkable roster of talent that included future University of Miami players Lester Williams, John Swain and Lorenzo "Smokey" Roan. Quarterback Reggie Ogburn went on to play for the University of Oregon. Defensive lineman James Gilbert went on to play for FSU. Receiver Freddie Nixon played at Oklahoma.
Carol City would win the title the next year in 1977. Since then Carol City went on to win 3 more state championships under legendary coach Walt Frazier in 1996, 1997 and 2003. After some down years, Carol City has recently returned to prominence and will play for another state title this weekend.

Choctawhatchee HS, Fort Walton, played in that 1977 championship game. Go Big Green Indians! The game was played in Ocala at night and I attended, was @UF that year. It was very foggy that night and as I watched the Miami team load outta the busses I thought to myself, these guys look like the KS Chiefs. Choctaw punched way over their weight that night and lost a fairly close contest. Was exciting to watch my HS team in the title game

    10-7 As I recall.
I did not go to Choctaw, two of my sisters did, I attended Crestview, when we moved to the north end of the County. But I always pulled for any Okaloosa County teams in the State Playoffs. (Any Sport)

My dad was good friends with the Superintendent of Schools, at that time, Max Bruner.

Was living in Tallahassee in 1976 and got to see that Godby team play, as a team they sound alot like how Propagator described the 1977 Choctaw team a year later. Interesting fact on that 1976 Godby team, Sammy Knight and Chris Hobbs went on to play for FAMU and both were instrumental in leading FAMU to a upset win over Miami in the orange Bowl a few years later. Believe that Godby vs Miami Carol City championship game was played in Lakeland!

Air Force brat, my dad retired in FWB. Attended Choctaw junior & senior years. Moved away after HS but still love that area.
Would love to time travel back to the Destin area in the 70's and purchase a few ocean front lots.

It’s getting overcrowded like everywhere else, hoping Pensacola stays as small as possible but the transplants are loading in.

Was the best. Few subdivisions, woods, could camp out and never have to walk the streets because most of Destin was trees and trails.

Destin now has a site for military people - hotel and cabanas. Cheap stay for Destin. It's through the Ft Benning site.

I was assigned to Hurlburt Field/1st SOW back in late 70s/early 80s. There was not much in the way of development between Ft Walton Beach and Panama City. Could park off road and walk to white sand and blueish green waters in Destin area. I think there was one hotel with a rotating restaurant floor on the top floor. At night I worked as a doorman at Victors which was a top night club in FWB at the time. Lot of beautiful spring breakers from Auburn U as I recall. Drinking age was still 18. Propagator likely remembers if around FWB at that time.
