Kiffin would do it for the money, notoriety of resurrecting a storied program and to put him over the hump in recruiting. He would have the Gators in the mix for every 5-star recruit in the state of FL. He will never have that feed in Oxford. Let's break it down further:

    1. he gets a raise from what he's making now, plus likely a nice signing bonus
    2. resurrection of Florida to national prominence would be all anyone would be talking about. Even now, he still has a cap on the buzz he can generate in Oxford.
    3. imagine the prospect of being on every Florida HS 4-star and 5-star's list with minimal effort. It will take some effort to land the kids, but if NIL is there, it's a given that he will assemble the most talented roster in the nation. That's hard to ignore.

Kiffin coached at Alabama and knows the difference between an Alabama and an Ole Miss. He knows the sheer volume of stud recruits he could get at Alabama. He watched Saban become nationally recognized as the GOAT at Alabama. Can't do that at Ole Miss. But Kiffin could do it at Florida. Kiffin's ceiling is just so much higher at a program like Florida. He might win a natty at Ole Miss eventually, but his access to the most talent rich state of recruits at a storied program is enough to make him seriously consider UF, even without a huge pay increase.

Fair enough but freeze bought 5 stars at ole miss before they shut him down when it was only "legal" for the Bamas and Georgia's to get away with it without reprisal. Ole miss can really shift their reputation this year from occasional noise maker to actual perennial contender. Florida is now behind mizzou, Kentucky and others in that we are in total disarray. Those other programs may have lower ceilings for now but florida has become THE national joke and I don't think that's hyperbole.

Fsu was made fun of last week but their schedule gets easier now. Ucf has been mocked for their fake title year but they have somewhat stabilized their program with malzahn now. aTm is rebounding off of jimbo already. Lsu had cookie monster and filthy program but are much more respected with Kelly right now. Tennessee is an unknown but they are at least known for a unique up tempo offense and have gained some defensive talent over the years now.

What can florida hang it's hat on right now? It's just stunning that this is happening to us.

    His buyout is $4m.
Probably have to buyout a few of his assistants too.
    +$25m buyout for Napier.
~$30m in buyouts and another $12-15m/year for new salaries.

The people that write those checks can't be happy.

Regardless of the cost to get him, I would be surprised if he left Oxford. He's got a really good thing going on there.

Won and runs an offense similar to that of SOS. Former legendary QB at Florida. At least we would know we have a guy who gives a damn.

I don't think Kiffen would see UF, as it stand right now, as an upgrade. In fact, I have doubts he would even regard it as a lateral move. Outside of what 2 legendary coaches did 2 decades ago what does UF offer that Ole Miss doesn't? Most importantly, which admin do you think is more "all in" on football success?

You could say the same for every major program who has ever fallen on hard times. What coach would want to leave their cushy situation to go there? Florida's stage is still larger than Ole Miss. All the down years at Bama and Michigan never erased who they were. Same is true in Gainesville. Florida will always be a much bigger prize position than Ole Miss.

LOL, if it was going to be an "upgrade" in terms of how well the program is doing, then UF wouldn't be looking for a new coach. UF has deeper pockets, better tradition, larger fan base, well-connected alumni, largest recruiting base in the nation, just to name a few..

Given our academic standing you’d think someone from the business school would step in. If you didn’t know any better you’d think we were intentionally lighting money on fire

If we get Kiffin or Urban we either keep Lagway or get a good transfer QB. Someone like Walker Howard would follow Kiffin.

An elite hire gets us in the playoffs quickly. The ROI is so obvious

It would take A LOT of $ to get Kiffin, and a little less for Urban/Fisch.

Doable but the question is do we want to be a well known US school with a good reputation or just known as a regional/international niche academic school?

UF should shelve the Stricklin stadium dissection, er. Renovation and instead use that money and invest in a competent Head coach.

Some of you are the problem. You want Mullen or Urban back yet neither one is the same person they were. If Mullen is so great, why is it no program has made an offer to him? Urban already said no to better programs. We just got done paying Muschamp's buyout and will need a few more years for McElwain and Mullen. If we part ways with Napier, there's another 8 years to pay him off. We need to pull a Bama, because getting Deboer in one getgo embarrasses us in every way possible. They didn't dick around and work their way down a list, they knew who to go after minutes after Saban let them know he was retiring. If we resort to same old tactics as we have already done since 2010, might as well become Vandy. At least we can say we have the 2nd best academics in the SEC.

At least one of them, ride on the team plane to away games type, hasn’t been happy for a while now. “No more money towards buyouts until the Stricklin problem is solved”, to paraphrase.

We don’t even have a president to fire the AD and hire a new one. It’s a mess.

Urban is a top 5 college coach in history. He dominated at 4 schools. We would be absolutely idiotic for not wanting him. He was coaching just a few years ago. It isn’t like it’s been 20 years.

But yes we need to know our top guys, secure the funds to wow them, then do it. If we go cheap it’s just a waste
