    Lane Kiffin would and did:

The Ole Miss Athletic Foundation would be due $4 million in compensation if football coach Lane Kiffin were to leave the Rebels before Dec. 31, according to documents obtained by the Clarion Ledger. Kiffin's buyout decreases by $1 million annually until Jan. 1, 2027, when it levels off at $1.5 million.

    Lol. Read it again.

The greater amount is if he’s fired the lesser amount is if he leaves on his own, like for another job.

"Kiffin is entitled to 80% of his remaining pay if the Rebels fire him without cause. If he were fired at the conclusion of the 2024 regular season on Nov. 30, the Ole Miss Athletic Foundation would be obligated to pay Kiffin roughly $36,590,000."

The numbers from Kiffin and Old Miss I quoted denote him voluntarily leaving the University. Your scenario is based on a "fire without cause" meaning he can't win enough games to satisfy the Ole Miss Trustees. I don't think Ole Miss demands from their football program as much as UF does so that particular payout scenario for Kiffin would seem highly unlikely. Though I will note that Kiffin has these agreed upon contract buyouts while Napier appears to not have them.

And that's coming a lot faster than most Tide fans realize. He ain't in the PAC-12 anymore.

I don't buy the Kiffen to UF line but it could happen, mostly out of desperation. He's paid millions more than Napier. He has a low buyout. Would we be willing to do, sign a bigger deal with a guaranteed buyout of say $12 million a year on a 6 or 7 year deal? Kiffen's team would have leverage and history says Stricklin is really good at wasting UF money. We just keep getting egg on our face.

Kiffin appears to be as sure a thing to get out of this funk we are in as there is in college football.

(And we really should start spelling his name right if we want him to consider us)

    There are two buyouts:

    1. If Lane is fired ($36 mil paid to Lane)

    2. If Lane leaves for another job ($4m paid to Ole Miss)

The post to which you responded was obviously talking about the "fire without cause" scenario.

Would as in past tense when he was an oc. His stocked has soared and if he can win a playoff game with ol miss. He could break the bank at the end of the season. If he wants that big payday, he better get it. You never know when the wheels are going to fall off. He could have both daughters if the school president pregnant by this time next year.

I think we’d sign up for 7 years of dominance and then he leaves.

It’s a misconception he leaves teams in bad shape. He leaves them in great shape

Utah has been rolling since Urban left
Ohio State hasn’t really missed a beat

He left Florida with arguably the top talent in the country including what was the greatest recruiting class of all time. We just Muschamped who quite literally didn’t believe in offense

    Please hire Kiffin before Saturday.

Pay the worst hire in the history of gator football his buyout and get the best coach we'd have in decades.

Do you recall Lane Kiffin almost signing Ronald Powell in 2010? Then going to UT where he mopped up as well.

Well. He was young then and showed me the type of man he has become. He took his lumps. Became an OC and then a HC at a small school like FAU.

Where he learned to earn our trust and those of his team and players. He's still got the moxy when it comes to recruiting and now he's coached and called plays for another 14 years since that year almost getting Powell.

He's the one and only choice.

Florida AD. THE longer you wait on this the harder it's going to be. Rip the bandaid off now and get this moving. Whether it's back channels or what, get it moving. Now.

Or you've lost another half decade and likely your job.
