I would take our chances with the hardasses that stick around to be the best they can be and accept an expectation of excellence, you know, winners.

I have no problem with Meyer returning to try to rebuild our program. At 60, he still has a few years left in him, and I think he could deal with the Portal easily enough. He may be willing. I'm not sure how many other successful coaches would be willing to jump into the Hogtown frying pan...

The idea of Meyer coming back gives me esophageal spasms.

We should go after Brian Kelly. He's already fed up with his team at LSU. They don't deserve him.

I'd welcome him back, Napier just isn't cutting the mustard.

I’m on Team Urban. This is about a home run hire as any and will keep players and get new recruits excited.

Yeah I’m not sure how it pans out long term or as far as winning championships- but if you wanna shift the perception of the program, keep Lagway etc
You get urban or lane and that’s it

also- we sound insane lol. I get that. If you looked at this board 20 years ago we’d see “bring back SOS” threads.

With the right coach, our nil $ will blossom. That’s how to get back earlie than normally possible in the past. You need to buy the best players from the portal after you select the best players. That’s what Miami has obviously done. You also have to run a wide open style of offense designed to utilize both the pass and run game. Napier is sold on the 12 package offense which is designed to grind out a game. It’s not an offense that can get you back from deficits.

Post Zook bringing back SOS was a real option. He wanted the job.

That’s how I look at it today. If Kiffin wants it then go Kiffin, just like we went Meyer over SOS. But we’d be foolish to go hunting elsewhere before giving Meyer a big call

I think a home-run hire would be to bring Gerry Faust out of retirement. He's only 89, so he should have some good years left. Plus his last game as Notre Dame head coach was a 58-7 loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl, so he should have a chip on his shoulder.

If he had issues with LSU's team, he's going to have a stroke watching #70 and 75 give their impression of watching paint dry.

I think Meyer would right the ship in one season. And I do NOT mean we make the payoffs in one season, what I mean to say is that he, and whoever he hires, will weed out the defeatists' mentality this team suffers from, and make them a fighting competing football machine. I remember seeing the videos of practices that he had, and they were brutal... just the way they're supposed to be.

That's what this team needs right now.

I honestly think his former players like TT, Spikes and Harvin will get in his ear. Those guys are true orange and blue and likely aren't very happy about the state of their former team. There is certainly some sense of pride in their school and who knows even an opportunity for them to possibly become assistants under Urban staff. Having his former team leaders light a fire under his ass is something a guy like Urban will respond to maybe even more than the mighty dollar. As Urban once coached them they may step in and coach him.
