didn't play in the first half against Okie, even after Fudge got his second foul.

the espn crew hasn't said a word including Bilas who is usually on the ball

Don’t get it. Cost us tonight. Easily gives us 8-10 and 5 boards.

3 benchings in the first 12 games of a tenure is odd to me (Reeves, Lane, and now Felder).

Agreed. I do like a coach that sticks to his guns when it comes to punishment, so I’ll hope that’s what’s going on.

there the saying in football…. “If you have two quarterbacks, you have none”.
That may apply here, to the personnel of this team. Preseason, it appeared Florida was two-deep at each spot. But the truth is, aside from CC… there really isn’t a transcendent player… and you could argue a different starter at spots 1-4 on a game-to-game basis.
That’s not necessarily a good thing.

Agreed. It’s only a good thing when you can’t figure out who to take minutes away from. Not so good when you can’t figure out who to try next because nobody is getting the job done.

Makes no sense to me. He gives you another big body down low & better rebounding. You have too many of the same type of players playing at once. Coach's lineups are more than questionable.

Fudge played only 23 minutes due to foul trouble and went scoreless.

No pairing of Castleton (32) with Jitoboh (8)

I guess Richard played the "4" when Fudge sat, but six points and four rebounds is not effective use of 36 minutes.

then there was 2-22 from the arc, where Felder has shown some ability from the corner.

    He’s averaging 3 and 3

Basically doesn’t even look to shoot unless he’s wide open

Lofton was overhyped. Bonham brings the energy (and is fast) but the reality is just about all these guys are mid-majors or transferred because they got zero PT elsewhere. Jones is the only one who was a legit scorer at a “major” conference, but unfortunately he has a flawed shot and after 1.5 seasons appears now to be in a permanent shooting slump (and we should no longer expect him to “find” his shot).

The talent is enough that it could do better if we were playing cohesively, but it’s almost devolving into street ball. So ultimately it’s still about guys wining their matchups, and our backcourt just isn’t winning many of those. The offense is not generating good open looks, just about everything is forced.

Realistically the only matchup we owned in that game was Castleton, he put up 20+ but even some of that seemed “forced”. But the sad reality is we probably needed to ride Castleton even more just because of how inept everything else looked.

I largely agree. i think the biggest issue is that our offense is initiated off player movement, and typically that high ball-screen. But often, nothing materializes. Lofton is not athletic nor fast enough… and Bonham is undersized. As a result, Lofton typically makes a rather benign perimeter pass, and Trey either gets turned back or takes a step-back three. Neither gets the offense going, nor the defense moving.
The only time we effectively get a defense in rotations is when Colin gets the ball on the blocks. Teams typically double, and recognition/pass has the defense imbalanced. And if teams don’t double… let CC go to work. I would love to see us play much more inside-out. I think that will make the offense so much easier, and much more so plays to our strengths.

Felder has a career 6 pts and 4 boards per game. Played in 30 games last year and had 4 games with 8 or more points, and 4 games with 5 or more boards. I'm not sure I would use "easily" to describe Felder giving us 8-10 and 5 boards.

After seeing Aberdeen's tape, I had hoped to see more of him this year. Not a good thing that I have so much company in failing to see Golden's logic in player use.

Felder was injured most of the second half of last season and was supposed to be 100% healthy this season

Supposed to be, but his per 40 numbers are down this year from last year.
