Where do you rated him as a coach at this point of his career? Is he a top 10 coach in the nation?

I think Ole Miss has a good chance of winning this west this year.

His career was a rollercoaster as we all know when he first became a head coach, but Bama until now he seems more acceptable. In 12 years only one season under .500

He will need Bama to lose again and Ole Miss go undefeated in order to win the West. Possible, but hard not because of Lane but because it’s Ole Miss.

But hey, better him than Jumbo!

Lane? Al Davis, UT, his running that mouth about UF and Divorcing Layla always come to mind.

Maybe give him an assistant to the Offensive Coordinator job provided he removes his vocal cords and learns sign language.

And back to the actual question....
Where does he currently rank as a coach?

Third best in the SEC, Behind Kirby and Saban, but he is doing what he is going at Ole Miss.

And leaving Bama before the NC game, and telling Alston Jeffrey he would be pumping gas after college if he went to SC, wrongly accusing Meyer of a recruiting violation, among other things.
He seems to have calmed down a bit, but he is who he is, it will resurface again.

Idk where he ranks but he's probably about the best Ole Miss can do. I think he's matured and he's a good playcaller.

He can't seem to beat Saban but there's no shame in that really.

I am pretty sure Saban would struggle to beat Kiffen if the teams were reversed.

I think he is doing a remarkable job at Ole Miss.

Whether he will get a job elsewhere remains to be seen.

The dude has won exactly zero championships of any kind in his career. Until he does I have him bottom half of the SEC coaches.

Despite the record, Kiffy is probably the best offensive mind in the entire conference.

What is the list of current coaches in the SEC who has won an SEC Championship? Two?
I guess everyone else is somehow in the bottom 12.

    These two might be related.

He seems to have mellowed a little and he is certainly entertaining both on and off the field. It is good to have a few entertaining nuts around sports.

    Florida Atlantic Owls

On December 12, 2016, Kiffin accepted the head coaching position at Florida Atlantic University. After a 1–3 start, the FAU Owls reeled off ten straight wins, culminating in the Conference USA (C-USA) football championship against University of North Texas, 41–17, on their home field. In 2019, Kiffin once again led FAU to a 10-win season and a second C-USA championship.

So lessee. Using your criteria, we have the current SEC coaches that have won fewer championships of any kind include:

    Hugh Freeze: 1 (Sunbelt)
    Eli Drinkwitz: 1 (Sunbelt)
    Billy Napier: 1 (Sunbelt)
    Josh Heupel: 1 (AAC)
    Sam Pittman: 0
    Mark Stoops: 0
    Zack Arnett: 0
    Shane Beamer: 0
    Clark Lea: 0

    Nick Saban
    Kirby Smart
    Brian Kelly
    Jimbo Fisher
    Lane Kiffin

So out of 14 coaches, I'd rate him 5th -- and if anything, he's probably a little higher, depending on where you put Jimbo...

I think CLK has matured as a man, but he still has that side of him that likes to needle his opponents. That’s okay with me though. We had a coach that loved to poke the bear and he wasn’t the least bit afraid to do it.
Ten years ago I would have never talked positively about Kiffin, but I think he has matured in a good way and he is a really good offensive coach who realizes you cannot win consistently without a good defense. He has fun coaching football too and is ultra competitive.
This should not be taken as me ready to move on from our coach. I think CBN deserves 3 full year’s minimum to get us back to respectability and I also think he will figure it out.
