When Do We Start Hearing More About Transfer Portal Players?

I think it closes Jan 18 so time’s a tickin. Maybe seeing who jumps after bowl games is the responsible thing to do. Players won’t (I wouldn’t) jump ship if they have a chance at a ring.

 

The 18th is just the last day to enter until the spring window. They don’t have to find their new school before then.

I don’t know when they need to be enrolled in order to participate in spring practice, but that would be the most important date to me.

 

need to be enrolled by UF drop/add date for spring semester … which I just looked up is the 13th.
Think last day for normal registration is January 8th, 9th-13th is drop/add.

 

Heard it said to watch the visits the weekend of the 6th-8th.

 

We should/have to hear a ton in the next 7-8 days. With some surprise players entering it makes it more important that we move super quick. Should hopefully get Dt from Memphis when he visits on the 6th. I’d also not be surprised to see us pick LB from Memphis Nedd.

I think I read we are currently at 80 ships. So only expect to see 5 from the transfer portal. Feels like it should be a LOT more than that with the offseason attrition we had.

 

I think we are at 76, so we have a lot of room. And will get more, so we need some portals.

We have a few weeks left in this portal cycle and some kids will announce after Bowl games are over. We have a Feb NSD for remaining HS athletes as well. There will also be portal and grad transfers after Spring semester. Feel confident that being patient will be helpful to add quality depth.

 

As @Jtstruk said gotta be enrolled by 13th with the 8th being the last day for normal registration. To participate in spring, which we want all our portal guys to do, they’d need to make their moves very soon. Yes, we hope to add Cadean Jones in February but he’s not starting next year. I can see a Feb high school signee or even 2 and maybe one late portal addition but the crux are coming soon.

 

As the better bowls are played, we should see more players coming to the portal.

 

This is what I have been thinking too. The best portal players are still playing football, and most have yet to announce to the public that they are transferring.
