What's with Mahelik?

Smack is a good name for a kicker. Dicker is another one. Then again, one can bet they have a good kicker when their name ends in "ski" (Gostkowski), "vich" (Stoyanovich), or "ian" (Yepremian, Agajanian). Perhaps Mahelik should change his name.

 

Sturgis, Mcpherson, and Pineiro were all pretty good too. Maybe it’s not the name.

 

Some of the worst kicking I have seen.

 

I used to laugh every time the USCe kicker was announced while Coach Spurrier was there. His name is Succup.

 

I'm concerned about our Aussie punter, too. He's got a strong leg, but shanks way too many and really hurts the field position game. He did that twice last night.

 

He's playing as inconstantly as a walk-on... but better than a dental student.

 

Spot on, and I’ve been saying this for a while. He shanks every 4th or 5th punt, and last night he gave us two of them. Not sure that’s worth the good punts.

 

Yeah, the shanked punts were problematic. I really hope we can get our kicking game straightened out.

 

Still in the NFL I think.

 

Ryan Succup with the Bucs till last year. Also his FG was blocked in the epic 2006 USCe game.

 

I would rather a few fewer yards overall, but every punt goes the distance than a couple of great punts and a couple of bad punts.

Slightly off-topic, I once had a dermatologist named Slaughter.

I hate to say it but I've seen girls kick better (no seriously some of these high school soccer players are really good, like automatic inside of 40 yards).

 

ST across the board have been a problem. They are too bad too consistently for me to believe it's anything other than a coaching issue. Change definitely needed.
