The risk is they full scale attack Israel and/or other US interests.

I think Israel would welcome that so they can go full on response and level Iran.

I don’t think either has the range to hit the other directly.

Iran proxies using ballistic missiles hot the base in Iraq. Time to send a message there
US personnel injured in attack on Al-Asad Air Base in Iraq, US official says | CNN Politics

Multiple ballistic missiles and rockets targeted the base and, while most were intercepted by the base’s air defenses, some made impact, the CENTCOM statement said.
The use of more powerful ballistic missiles, far rarer than rockets or one-way attack drones, comes at a time of growing tension in the region as the Israel-Hamas war passes 100 days.
US and coalition forces have faced increased threats
from Iranian-backed Shia militias since the start of the war. As of Thursday, US and coalition forces had come under attack more than 143 times in Iraq and Syria since October 7;Saturday’s incident appears to be the second time ballistic missiles have been used to attack the US.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iranian-backed militia group, claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack.

Iran accuses Israel of killing a spy chief and 3 of its top Revolutionary Guards in Syria, escalating tensions in the region (msn.com)

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Public Relations Department said that Israel struck the Mazzeh neighborhood in Damascus, where several diplomatic missions are located, according to Tasnim, an Iranian news agency affiliated with the guards.

The department blamed the airstrikes on fighter jets belonging to what it described as the "savage and criminal Zionist regime."

The attack killed the chief of the IRGC intelligence in Syria and his deputy along with two other members of Iran's Revolution Guards, according to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency.

Only know what they reported, which is plausible in rough seas

U.S. Official: Iran’s Direct Involvement in Houthi Attacks Confirmed (msn.com)

Iran is deeply implicated in the assaults on ships in the Red Sea orchestrated by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, according to the head of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, as reported by the Associated Press.

Vice Admiral Brad Cooper stated, “Clearly, the Houthi actions, particularly in terms of their attacks on merchant shipping, are the most significant that we’ve seen in two generations. The facts simply are that they’re attacking the international community; thus, the international response I think you’ve seen.”

What, your attention span only lasts 3 minutes? A president's decisions can have impacts that last decades after he leaves office. Bill Clinton allowed U.S. companies to invest money and technology in China, which eventually enabled China to become a belligerent superpower that we are dealing with a couple dozen years after he left office. He also helped rebuild Russia after the Soviet Union collapsed, without requiring Russia to stop manufacturing weapons, and we are dealing with the effects of that decision in Ukraine (again, 23 years after Clinton left office). In each case, Clinton had hopes that financial prosperity would improve the chances of real democracy taking hold in both countries, but the leaders of those countries merely used the financial windfall to control their people and build their militaries to bully their neighbors. LOL, indeed.

Nobody tries harder than you to be seen as relevant on this forum, I'll give you that much. You'd be taken much more serious if you dealt in reality; stayed away from the fiction.

Iran's real crime is supplying anyone and everyone in the middle east with weapons (plus Russia). Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, Iraqi insurgents, you name it. The middle east would be a much more peaceful place if Iran was neutered. The attacks on U.S. bases on Iraq would have justified a military response, but unfortunately, Trump was lacking in courage and intelligence.

So you're saying that your attention span is only 3 minutes? If you want to say there is fiction in my posts, the traditional thing to do is articulate what that fiction might be. You would have more credibility if you did so.

interesting if true

U.S. Secretly Alerted Iran Ahead of Islamic State Terrorist Attack (msn.com)

The U.S. secretly warned Iran that Islamic State was preparing to carry out the terrorist attack early this month that killed more than 80 Iranians in a pair of coordinated suicide bombings, U.S. officials said. The confidential alert came after the U.S. acquired intelligence that Islamic State’s affiliate in Afghanistan, ISIS-Khorasan, known as ISIS-K, was plotting to attack Iran, they said.

American officials said the information passed to Iran was specific enough about the location and sufficiently timely that it might have proved useful to Tehran in thwarting the attack on Jan. 3 or at least mitigating the casualty toll.

Iran, however, failed to prevent the suicide bombings in the southeastern town of Kerman, which targeted a crowd that was commemorating the anniversary of the death of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds force. Soleimani was killed in a January 2020 drone attack near the Baghdad airport ordered by then-President Donald Trump.

“Prior to ISIS’s terrorist attack on January 3, 2024, in Kerman, Iran, the U.S. government provided Iran with a private warning that there was a terrorist threat within Iranian borders,” a U.S. official said, using an acronym for Islamic State. “The U.S. government followed a longstanding ‘duty to warn’ policy that has been implemented across administrations to warn governments against potential lethal threats. We provide these warnings in part because we do not want to see innocent lives lost in terror attacks.”
