Florida offers more details on its controversial plan for changes at state parks

Get a load of what day and times the public meetings are for this subject. Tuesday at 3pm. Probably as inconvenient a time for any working public or parents with kids in school.

I can't imagine how much money is being thrown around behind the scenes for this kind of crap.

Not to mention the ability to absorb property and insurance costs

Interest in golf has been declining for 15 years. More courses are closing than opening. So the state should spend money and use state park land to ... build golf courses?

I would love to see the Desantis lovers on this board defend this decision. You can’t.

Golf was definitely in decline, but Covid actually gave a lot of courses a substantial spike in business (to the point there may even be a mini boom in building courses now).

My money would be on this being short lived and we’ll go back to closing courses in a few years. So this seems a pretty stupid idea, esp if it’s using an area designated for preservation. Nevermind that it’s all likely rooted in corruption.

desi backed school board candidates didn't do so well across the state. if the dems would get their chit together, the state could easily be in play

DeSantis-backed school board candidates fall short in Florida | AP News

Of the 23 school board candidates that DeSantis endorsed this cycle, preliminary results show more of them appeared to lose their election races than win them.

Unofficial vote tallies show 11 candidates backed by the governor lost on Tuesday, including some incumbents in conservative-leaning counties. Meanwhile, six of DeSantis’ preferred candidates won their races and six were poised to advance to a November runoff after no one in their contests cleared 50% of the vote. Those runoffs could still go in DeSantis’ favor.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, DeSantis acknowledged that efforts to make school boards more conservative were more successful two years ago, but said progress is still being made.

DeSantis and Randy Fine bickering like a married couple filing for divorce. Fine wanted the FSU game in Ireland cancelled because Ireland recognizes Palestine. Along with Spain and Norway, Ireland has been deemed supporters of Muslim terror by Fine.

'Fire them': DeSantis spat with GOP lawmaker Fine catches fire online

Republicans: shut up and dribble. Keep politics out of sport.

Also Republicans: we can’t allow a state university to play in a country that recognizes Palestine
