On the abortion and legalized marijuana front, the Sentinel reported (in the front page) that a poll released yesterday by FAU show BOTH initiatives failing (both at 56%- far short of the 60%). What was interesting is that about 20% of those polled hadn’t made up their mind yet on these initiatives.

    Sun Sentinel - Broward

(The Sentinel-linking frequently doesn’t work, but I’m giving it a try)

One thing to remember about the disparity between Rs and Ds is that 90% of the “inactive” voters on the rolls are Ds and NPAs. If you did not vote in 2022 you are automatically moved to inactive status. This affects Ds and NPAs disproportionately due to low turnout in 2022, which was the desired outcome of the legislature.

It’s important for EVERYONE to check their status regularly. I check mine every Monday

The Republicans have registered more voters, but overall, voter registration is way down from prior years before they passed all those restrictions

lots of people registered as pubs because that is the only way they can influence the local priamtires where a pub is almost guaranteed to win the general.

STUPID for the dems to use registration numbers to write off such a valuable state...sadly, that is the dem leadership, constantly shooting themselves in the foot

Screw Desantis and Christopher Rufo. Nobody should be okay with this, it’s literally the antithesis of freedom. New College was a once proud educational institution of higher learning that has been completely destroyed from the inside out due to these clowns. “The free state of Florida”, LOL! Funniest shit ever.

DeSantis takeover of Florida school boards has big setback

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ attempt to elect conservative-leaning school board members across Florida hit a snag Tuesday, as candidates backed by the Republican governor fell in several key races.

DeSantis, who has made reshaping Florida’s education system a top priority, endorsed 23 candidates ahead of Tuesday’s election. And as of late Tuesday night, at least 11 appear to have lost. That is a notable downturn from 2022, when DeSantis saw a runaway success: Of the 30 he endorsed two years ago, just five lost.

What a coward of a school president. The state has made it perfectly clear what the intentions are for that school so you throw your Library Dean under the boss for following the Code Red.

These two paragraphs seem to be in conflict with each other.

When I think of conserving natural landscapes, building hotels and golf courses isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

Rhonda thinks the scrub jays at Jonathan Dickinson should take up golf.

Terrible idea to add golf courses to state parks even though fox squirrels do great in golf course habitat. Passive recreation yes; golf and disk golf no. Nice lodging is a move I might be able to support, though.

Yeah well, the scrub jays need to get with fund raising and donations to Rhonda. That’s how its done in the (not so) free state of Florida. Pay up

Low income tax states are very appealing to high-income people, especially if they don't care much about infrastructure, quality of schools, poor people, etc. in the meantime, they are not improving the lives of the rest of us.
