For a person not qualified to manage a chic-fil-a (per his bio, he’s never run a successful organization in his life, a lifetime of political grift). But hey, why not “place” an undeserving political hack like that in charge of an institution of higher learning. :emoji_joy: What could go wrong?

Corruption rulez!!! But does it have to be so obvious?

Smoking as bad as it is, mostly doesn’t physically affect others, assuming they are not smoking indoors. Most illegal drugs, excluding pot, are harmful to not only the consumer but to everybody around them.

I don’t think you can have a functional society with legalized opiates or meth. I am open to alternative ways of dealing with it.

Seems another setback for Desantis. I’m losing count at this point.

U.S. Supreme Court puts temporary stay on Florida sports betting case

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily put on hold a lower court ruling that gave a green light to a $2.5 billion gambling deal between the state and the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Chief Justice John Roberts, who oversees emergency requests from the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., on Thursday issued an administrative stay in the case while the full court considers a request for a long-term staythat was made last week by lawyers representing Florida casino operators.

Florida’s gambling deal with the Tribe was approved by the GOP-led Legislature in May 2021 and later signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The compact not only authorized sports betting, but it authorized the Tribe to add craps and roulette to its current casinos and build additional casinos on the Tribe’s Hollywood reservation that is already home to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Shortly after the deal was approved, the Seminoles began offering sports betting through a mobile app.

Political stunt aimed at helping his floundering campaign. We'll see how many taxpayer dollars he wastes on virtue signaling.

More of the kind of history that shouldn’t be taught because it can make people feel guilty

David Fielding and Ann Valee as man and wife since 1839---

David Fielding Born Augusta Co. Va. age 57 yrs.

    Ann Valee “ Died “ 1857 “ “ “ 54 yrs.”

This man, David Fielding, had walked into the Freedmen’s Bureau office in Lexington in 1866 to record his marriage to a woman, Ann Valee, who had died nine years earlier. He clearly wanted their marriage to stand and be legitimized. No children’s names were listed. He was simply giving voice to his love for someone, his wife, who at the moment of emancipation, was no longer there.

There have been very few times, sitting in the stillness of a manuscript reading room, when I have had to pause and put my head in my hands, but this was one of them.

He also said no Palestinians should be allowed refugee status in Florida because even if they are not Hamas, they’re all anti-Semitic

I don’t think DeSantis is opposed to free speech … as long as he approves of what you say.

DeSantis continues spending State money for his sinking Presidential Campaign. Project Dynamo has conducted 601 missions through charitable contributions. #602 was paid for by State tax dollars and it appears 5 have been paid for. DeSantis shows up to greet the plane for his photo op then appears on Fox to tout his "leadership" for events like the sun rising in the east and rain falling from the sky. Reminds me of Coach Carter tying his shoe - "I did that!". Average cost to charter a plane from Tampa to Israel is $2 Million.

I got a fundraising email from 'Team DeSantis'. I suppose we could argue all day about whether schools are really trying to strip parental rights and indoctrinate children or whether unelected bureaucrats are trying to control our lives. Suffice to say, I've seen no widespread evidence of those.
But the 'corporations pushing radical agendas' struck me. So, what we're looking for is elected leaders who will stop corporations from agendas that the governor and president don't like? Just outlaw them?
That's not really small government, now is it?

Part of Nazi ideology is that corporations are free to exist, but only provided they are directly subservient to the state and indeed actually support the state. It makes more sense once you understand that. Industrials are favored industries. Leisure? Eh. Better get in line with that culture war Bud and Disney.

One would think it very difficult to reconcile this with the other “conservative” doctrine, the John Roberts doctrine, that “corporations are people” and thus entitled to free speech. But of course that “speech” doctrine only actually had to do with corporations giving money to favored conservative causes, make of that what you will.

While Ron DeSantis has been working, Joe Biden has only caused damage to our country. And Kamala Harris has just sat by.We're tired of the excuses. Ron DeSantis has FOUGHT BACK...

    • Against the Left's need to strip away parental rights and indoctrinate children.

    • Against corporations pushing radical agendas.

    • Against unelected bureaucrats trying to take control of American lives.

I was sent a book written by kinfolk of a friend: How to Eat Swamp Cabbage. It occurs in a post-apocalyptic Florida not very far into the future after Civil War II when the survivors are wandering around living off the land (The Road meets This Land Remembered) and apparently it was this very type of government overreach and unelected bureaucrats that triggered it all. So clean your weapons, start hoarding dry beans, and get ready. And if you live in Ft Pierce, I’m really sorry.
