That’s actually kind of amazing. I knew minor leaguers don’t live the high life (except for the high end prospects that get big contracts after the draft), but they are fighting over paying pro ball players minimum wage!? Crazy. I assume that is single A ball?

Not an expert in such matters but minimum wage is hourly and if you are paid hourly I have seen it asserted that anything you do work related is hourly pay, including travel time and time away from home.

I think the minor leaguers just unionized, so it should reduced the impact of this awful law.

Not sure how it works for athletes and sports teams.

Most workers aren’t paid hourly for “travel time” either (they have to submit expense reports for reimbursable expenses). Obviously they aren’t always “on the clock” at all times if on the road for a long period. But most workers might at least get a days wages or something on a long trip on top of expense reimbursement, and so should ball players.

it's like Biden who put that luggage thief in charge of something and wanted a guy whose experience in airports was he ran Denver airport for a year to be head of the FAA. That guy withdrew his name after one days questioning. Biden looks to check a box with his appointments (see VP Harris and Sect Transportation Mayor Pete and the newest Supreme Court Justice). Funny on that newest justice - Biden blocked the nomination of a black female conservative justice 20 years ago under Bush. He said the first black female justice would have to be a Democratic nominee.

Politicians from both sides reward their donors and always have, whether its an ambassadorship or a position for which they are not qualified. They always will. How do you think they raise a billion dollars for each side to run for president? Those are IOU bucks and they will be honored by the politicians from both sides.

Why are all those people seeking the GOP presidential nomination, when you know it will be Trump or Desantis? They are lining up for positions in a new GOP administration.

How could Biden "block[] the nomination" of a Black woman who was never nominated? You guys live in a fantasy world.

I share your cynicism about the location of projects and ownership of adjacent land and their likelihood of being a large donor. Its the Florida way - also found in most other states.

They're talking about Janice Rogers Brown. But the point about Biden supposedly said is BS. She had one month on the DC Circuit and they ultimately decided on Roberts/Alito (remember it all mixed together when Rehnquist died so soon after SDO retired)

So funny you presume they are the beneficiaries of "box checking". As I always say, nominate a white guy, you're deciding on merit. Anyone else is "diversity" or "box checking"

I know. My point is that Bush never nominated her, and there's no evidence he actually intended to nominate her. I'd have taken her in a split second over Alito.

Of course. These same people don't spend much time questioning how thoroughly underwhelming white men get their jobs. It's always the people of color or member of the LGBTQ community who doesn't deserve to be there.

You may not be correct. Here is texas a state that is not the most worker friendly.

    Employment Law 101: Travel Time.

This thought occurred to me because I worked for a company that was wrestling with how to handle some out of town trips and ended up deciding to pay them for a lot of the away time.

From Florida Politics text service. Let's see if he brags about this one on the trail. Auto Dealers are powerful lobby, though not as powerful as I used to be in the days of newspapers come over they controlled advertising and thus had great influence with the media. But this is more of a giveaway even than usual, and completely screws consumers in a changing market

DeSantis signs auto dealers bill -

The Governor signed five bills on Tuesday, including a measure (HB 637) that would block direct-to-consumer auto sales.

The legislation, backed by auto dealers, prohibits the sale of vehicles by any entity that has a 30% or higher stake in a car manufacturer or importer.

It would also clarify dealers' authority to set prices for cars they sell and determine the value of trade-ins.

    Elon won't be happy.

Edit: They mysteriously carved out an exception to allow Tesla to continue on with its sales model. What an incredible coincidence...DeSantis announces on Twitter and much of his completion is prohibited from selling cars in Florida. See post 85.

    This is from wikipedia:

    Janice Rogers Brown - Wikipedia
One month into Brown's tenure she was reportedly considered as one of 13 potential nominees to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the United States Supreme Court.[4] The potential candidates included John G. Roberts, who was initially chosen by Bush but instead nominated for the seat of Chief Justice William Rehnquist who died unexpectedly, and Samuel Alito, who was then nominated for O'Connor's seat. In July 2005, Senator Joe Biden appeared on Face the Nation, and said a filibuster to prevent Brown from replacing O'Connor was more likely than if she were nominated to replace a more conservative justice, like Rehnquist.[17][4][18][19]
