And so DeSantis hurts the chances of Florida students earning college credits in high school, resulting in increasing expense and time for them to graduate college. And the base loves it! Just as the way they love his handling of the Florida insurance crises. EDIT: I see that the state is allowing the course to be taught. But that conflicts with “don’t say gay.” It leaves the school and teacher exposed.

Yep, Mr Never Back Down, backed down. This is absolutely the correct decision. Lots of unnecessary aggravation for a lot of people; teachers, students, and administrators

Another example of his strategy of trying to "out Trump" the original and like everything else Meatball Ron has done it won't work. Members of the Cult which includes the overwhelming majority of Republican primary voters still prefer the original and that's very unlikely to change.

Mentioned it before, the only question now is whether DeSantis will drop out before the first primary/caucus like Scott Walker did in 2016 when he saw the proverbial writing on the wall or like Jeb Bush, another presumptive favorite in the 2016 Republican campaign after he loses a few primaries to Trump.

Ron is the weakest strong man in history. He’s like a yippie ankle dog. Irritating but ineffective.

Based on the quote below from new Brevard Schools Superintendent Rendell, it would appear he's clearly the puppet for Moms for Liberty. Safeguard our students? Parents have to sign off on the course.

Rendell is absolutely a Moms for Liberty puppet. He was bangin’ Tiffany Justice when he was the superintendent in Indian River and she recommended him for Brevard superintendent job. He got run out of Indian River for financial improprieties among other issues and then took the Cocoa Beach principal job.

I’ve worked with Rendell before. Not impressed

They are reversing their decision, however schools still can't teach it as they will be violating the law

    • Brevard Public Schools
“…We will not offer AP Psychology at any of our high schools this year,” Brevard Public Schools said in a statement.

    • Lake County Schools
“We will not be offering AP Psychology in Lake County schools next year. As an alternative, we will offer college-level Psychology courses through our AICE and IB programs, both of which will give students the same college credit they would have earned through AP Psychology," Lake County Schools said.

    • Seminole County Public Schools
"In order to comply with Florida Law and College Board requirements, SCPS has developed a plan that allows students to pursue their interest in psychology, while still having the opportunity to potentially earn college credit," Seminole County Public Schools said in a statement. "Student schedules will reflect the replacement of AP Psychology with AP Seminar. This AP Seminar class will emphasize the study of psychology. Students will then take the AP Seminar exam and upon achieving a passing score, may earn college credit."

Central Florida school districts respond to AP Psychology guidelines

A lot of these statements came out prior to the DOE reversing course.

Good point, however they'd still be breaking the law if they teach it. It will be interesting if they decide to be more cautious to protect their teachers

I think Diaz throwing in the phrase “age appropriate” may be the wiggle room needed. Parents can sign off on the syllabus because all of this nonsense was cloaked in “parental choice”, was it not?

I just looked at the IB and AICE curriculum and both of them are a two year course. AP teachers will have NO training in these options and school starts next Thursday.

That's what makes it hard to trust him. Diaz is an inept hack. Instead of clearly stating, "Yes, you can teach this and need not fear running afoul of state law," he threw in qualifiers.

In addition, I forgot to mention that the AP textbooks will not align with the IB/AICE curriculum.

This is Brevard's latest stating that they will not be offering the course. Knowing that Brevard. Of course it is subject to change

The DOE, which is completely dysfunctional, is blaming the College Board for the mess that Florida’s education system is in.

I can’t help but wonder if there is a connection in various theocratic musings that are out there, if DeSantis is dog whistling the base
