The guy has truly lost it. Maybe this wins him Republican votes but every day he alienates himself from normal moderates, minorities, independents etc. He is becoming a laughing stock.

Sure would be nice to hear "I'd rather get zero votes than get votes from Nazis"

And to add, the only argument against changing the name that had any traction with me was the expense involved with the renaming. Apparently it isn't insignificant.

But MoRon would burn that cost again to change the name back that of a traitor.

And not even a very good traitor. He had to be relieved of command because he was doing such a bad job. I could understand more fuss about the renaming of Fort Lee, but going to bat for a loser like Bragg?

He's going to bat for every right winger in this country that reflexively thinks yesterday was better than today, the last decade was better than this one and the prior century is better than the current one. The particular facts hardly matter.

I really do not understand the strategy.

It's just plain old 3rd grade math.

You need this many votes to win based on a % of turnout. How do we get there? I need to appeal to so many independents to get to the number I need to win? What issues will help me? Abortion! Check. Anti-LGTBQ laws. Check. Reduce the importance POC had on our history. Check. Attack teachers and education. Check. I'm going to mercilessly trick migrants to strange places to "own the libz". Check. I'm going to hang out with Viktor Orban at events and mimic his authoritarian, white Christian, xenophobic policies. CHECK!

None of these appeal to moderates. None help him win a national election. I do not get it.

At this point it is really about hoping Trump implodes due to legal battles. He isn't going to beat Trump head to head on MAGA. However he does have enough culture war and MAGA lite cred that he is the clear second choice if Trump implodes. So this anti vax stuff and far right abortion tacking is totally unnecessary, and it hurts him in the general if he’s nominated.

You guys act like Desantis is a rationale politician lining up a broad level of support. He is not. He believes he is on a crusade and the Republican God will lead him to victory if he stays faithful. Another wacko from the pubs. Thanks guys.

I do not disagree. I think major losses at the polls is what the right needs to get back to the middle. Once they see these extremists views don't get you anywhere, they will start to elect more moderates. I truly believe we will see some younger conservatives start to bubble up. Ones that will compromise on gays/trans/abortion/do a balancing act of green and fossil fuels but carry that perceived fiscal restraint aspect. Right now, their voter pool keeps shrinking.

I commit to vote 3rd party RIGHT NOW in the dark...whichever 1 has the most support. This election is too important to vote R or D.

Which has the paradoxical impact of driving the party more to the right, so I’m not sure it’s a given they moderate.

I disagree. If this were Biden vs a Mccain republican party or Biden vs a Romney republican party it would be business as usual bitching about the two sides. This is not a both sides era. The republicans are wacko. They left the bad idea zone and entered the anti democracy zone. Democrats, whose ideas I like, however, if you dont you can argue that they are still in the bad idea zone , but they arent in the anti democratic zone.

I think it’s probable he’s just making those comments to gain MAGA votes, but in the general election he’ll deny he ever said it, that it’s the woke media lying. The sadder part is people will believe him.

Why did the US Army name the Fort after a rag to begin with?

Because the talking points against Biden are getting louder and louder, regardless of whether they have merit. Not everyone is a political junkie and somewhat informed; most voters aren’t.

I think many independents want a better choice than Biden (and anyone other than Trump). DeSantis has name recognition, and that gives him a huge chance out of the box.

I don’t understand why Biden is running again.
