You're right. He's putting his presidential aspirations above those of the state who's citizens elected him.

What's his problem with federal grants, anyway? As the governor of a state that requires frequent infusions of federal cash (ie hurricane relief) you'd think he'd be more grateful.

He’s nothing but a performative clown. Can’t wait to pay the legal fees for more of his/the legislatures unconstitutional nonsense.

This is a portion of our federal income taxes, not coming back for use in the state because of this jack ass.

Not sure if this is Breitbart trying to help Trump and hurt DeSantis or more about some personal beefs.

Exclusive — Rising Conservative Influencer Pedro Gonzalez Regularly Espoused Racist and Anti-Semitic Sentiments in Private Messages

Pedro Gonzalez, a rising conservative influencer and politics editor of Chronicles magazine, regularly in 2019 and 2020 sent racist and antisemitic messages, Breitbart News can reveal after reviewing months’ worth of his private messages.

More recently, Gonzalez has become perhaps most well-known as one of the most active and strident pro-Florida Gov. Ron Desantis influencers on Twitter.

Gonzalez responded to the Breitbart News investigation after this article was published by claiming he is a target of Trump and that is why these messages became public. He did not address any of the content of the messages but did admit that they were “from a different, dumb season of my life.”

The DeSantis campaign–and DeSantis himself–remain silent at this moment. The pro-DeSantis Super PAC, Never Back Down, however, called Gonzalez’s statements as exposed in this article “inexcusable” and made clear that Never Back Down has no relationship with him.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' legal feud with Disney World explained

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants out of his legal battle with Disney, according to court records filed by his attorneys this week.

The mass media company in April sued the Republican presidential candidate for taking away its ability to self-govern the 25,000-acre site of its Walt Disney World amusement parks in Orlando. Disney claimed DeSantis targeted and retaliated against the company with the move because it disagreed with his "Don't Say Gay" bill last year, which bans education about sexual orientation and gender identity in some Florida classrooms.

DeSantis' attorneys asked a federal judge Monday for immunity from the case, which would drop the suit and free him from any further legal action, liability or punishment. In a legal filing, his attorneys said the court should dismiss the case in part because "all of Disney’s claims fail as a matter of law."

A spokesperson for Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday. But attorneys for the company wrote in their lawsuit, "Disney finds itself in this regrettable position because it expressed a viewpoint the governor and his allies did not like." Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is one of the largest taxpayers and employers in the state, they wrote.

I saw that. I'm not sure how successful the defense will be given the record, although there is always an argument that the board is independent. But they are suing over the legislation. There are immunities from that but I don't think they apply under the facts as alleged, retaliation for First Amendment permitted speech.

But other than that, I just see this as him trying to limit the federal court issuing an opinion involving him. He's got a friendly judge now so I could see them punting on this.

    All this is pure speculation.

DeSatan certainly seems to attract racist and anti semites.

    SAD!

Breitbart Commenters Slam the Site After it Reports on Conservative Activist’s Anti-Semitic Messages

    Snip

Yeah like not every Jew is problematic, but the sad fact is that most are,” Gonzales wrote. “The only tactical consideration [sic] of Jews is screening them for movements.”

    snip
Tfw [that feeling when] when you realize whites are the only hope non-whites have of living civilized lives, but whites themselves are too cucked to preserve their own civilizations,” another message reads.

“Minorities like me see America for what it is—a country built by whites, that can only survive if whites survive,” Gonzalez adds in another rant. “And it is my job to make whites wake up. Because if they don’t we are all…. Especially people like me.”

Eliminating the Departments of Energy, Commerce, Education and the IRS.

The fact that DeSantis just gets more extreme daily to Trump's right trying to get some attention and support from DT's base reminds me of the great SNL Buck Henry skit from the first season, where he plays a talk radio host that cannot get anyone to call in with any reasonable discussion and keeps getting more and more extreme to try to get someone to call in and engage. DeSantis is Frank Noland

[Frank puts his hand on the phone and freezes as he realizes that it has stopped ringing — another pause, Frank lets go of the phone and puts his hand to his head – he’s getting desperate]

Here’s another issue that may interest you: “Soviet Communism — Let’s Give It a Chance”! I’ll bet there are some of you who have opinions on this one. That’s Soviet Communism here — here and now! Here, in this country, in your own community. I guess there are plenty of good, red-blooded Americans out there who’ll have a little something to say about that. And, if there are, and you want to talk back to me, Frank Noland, I’m prepared to talk back to you! Maybe you forgot to make a note of those numbers. The numbers again are eight zero-zero, five-five-five, three-three-one-zero — one-one, one-two, one-three, one-four, one-five, one-six, one-seven, one-eight and one-nine. And I’m ready to talk back on these same topics: Federally Supported Municipal Bonds, Forced Busing, and “Soviet Communism Here and Now”! I, Frank Noland, am ready to talk back to you in support of spending federal funds to bus known Soviet Communists into your community now — to teach your children and to live in your house, whether you like it or not! Now, if anyone has another position, and it’s your right as an American to disagree, give me a call on one of these toll-free lines. Call me collect! I’ll answer and I’ll talk back to– I’ll talk. I–

[pause, Frank puts an unlit cigarette in his mouth, thinks for a moment, then leans forward intently]

How ’bout this? “Killing Puppies — It Doesn’t Bother Me” … That’s me, Frank Noland, and I LIKE dead puppies! Frankly, I’m totally in favor of using federally supported municipal bonds to pay for forced busing of Soviet Communists to come into your homes to kill your puppies! Give me a call, won’t you? The lines are open. Tell ME what you think about it. [lights his cigarette, mumbles to himself] Dead, mangled puppies… I like ’em …

    [starting to lose it]
Okay. While you’re thinking about THOSE topics, here are a half a dozen others which I, Frank Noland, am personally in favor of. “Adolf Hitler — Boy, Do We Need Him Now”! Huh? What about that? Hey, “Incest — I Practice It, Why Don’t You?” Give me a call. Talk to me about it.[A sympathetic woman enters and joins Frank] “No Toilets for the Blind”? Call me! Call me, if you’re watching! And, and–

Hardly shocking news. It would appear his best strategy would be not to go anywhere, not to speak to anyone and stop campaigning.

"His support may be dwindling because of Trump's indictment, DeSantis' position on abortion, or simply his charisma."

"An average of polls from New Hampshire shows that voters in the state are less and less enthused by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis the more he visits the state.

Since announcing his intention to run for president in May 2023, DeSantis has visited New Hampshire on several occasions in an attempt to boost his support ahead of the first Republican presidential primary election in February 2024. It doesn't appear to be working.

According to an average of the four New Hampshire polls of the Republican primary field taken between January and March of 2023 that have been aggregated by FiveThirtyEight, DeSantis was averaging the support of 28% of Republicans over the course of the period.

After visiting the state and hobnobbing with locals, DeSantis' support has only dropped. According to an average of four more polls from between May and June 2023, he brought an average of 16% support from likely or registered voters."

Desi's goal to have shareholders go after Disney has been thrown out

    MSN

    T
he Walt Disney Co. has fired a shot across the bow of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's campaign against the House of Mouse with a significant victory in a "Don't Say Gay" law investor lawsuit.

Judge Lori Will of the Delaware Court of Chancery on June 27 ruled that Disney did not act negligently when it spoke out against the Parental Rights in Education legislation, or Don't Say Gay law, signed into law by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in March 2022, Disneyland News Today reported.

Will ruled that there was no evidence that Disney was "grossly negligent or acted in bad faith" or "suffered from disabling conflicts" from their response to the Don't Say Gay law. She said the lawsuit was benefitting conservative non-profit law firm Thomas More Society that was paying Disney investor Kenneth Simone's legal costs, as his lawyer is a special counsel for the Thomas More Society

And then Roberts dropped a not so subtle hint in the USSC ruling

Supreme Court Subtweets Ron DeSantis That He's Totally Losing To Disney - Above the Law

As the Court rejected the independent state legislature theory it noted that there are other places in the Constitution where the federal courts have the authority to ding state legislatures, citing — oh, let’s just pick one clause at random — the Contracts Clause:

A similar principle applies with respect to the Contracts Clause, which provides that “[n]o state shall… pass any… Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts.” Art. I, §10, cl. 1. In that context “we accord respectful consideration and great weight to the views of the State’s highest court.” Indiana ex rel. Anderson v. Brand, 303 U. S. 95, 100 (1938). Still, “in order that the constitutional mandate may not be- come a dead letter, we are bound to decide for ourselves whether a contract was made.” Ibid.; see also General Motors Corp. v. Romein, 503 U. S. 181, 187 (1992).

That’s John Roberts letting the new judge — and failing that the Eleventh Circuit — know that Disney’s theory of the case may have been out of sight for a while, but it’s no longer out of mind.
    Have a magical day, Ron

I think Above the Law is reaching there, personally. That came during the part of the opinion where Roberts left the door open for Republican SCOTUS to still overrule state supreme courts if they really, really want to do so (ex. another Bush v. Gore). It merely noted that some other constitutional provisions allow the federal judiciary to cast aside state court interpretations where it is clear they're trying to evade federal judicial review to stymie the vindication of federal rights.
