Here is a scouting report of Florida’s new center: What You Need To Know About Incoming Transfer Colin Castleton | GatorCountry.com
My main takeaway from this piece is that I'm seethingly jealous of Michigan for apparently having such exceptional depth at the four and five spots.
Eric - Impressive write up. You do realize your on the hook though! Lol Care to posit any statistical guesses? 8 points 6 rebounds kinda guy?
Thanks @Efawcett7. When you say "Castleton is a fluid athlete at 6’10” who shows great mobility", it makes me wonder if you could imagine lineups with him and Payne or JJ. (Not sure if there are any SEC teams likely to put out two bigs, so maybe not relevant.) Edited: Duh, transfer, not next year.
I think it is just a matter of Colin getting physically bulkier and stronger - adding muscle mass. He looks to have the tools.
I hadn't thought of that... and I think of everything. It's something the NCAA will certainly have to consider.
With KJ back (and surely taking a ton of minutes as a small ball 4), I wonder if either party would even want that? *IF* Castleton plans on using all 4 of his years of eligibility, almost makes more sense to sit out and then have 2 years with a better path to more PT. If he got eligible this year, his minutes might be somewhat limited. Unless there are issues with Payne and Jitoboh staying healthy at the 5 spot or some other unforseen circumstance - we are in pretty good shape depth wise at the 4 and 5 for next season. (remembering also we have Duruji is also a hyper athletic small ball 4, and Osifo could also be called upon for minutes at the 4 or 5 if it came to it). If KJ had gone pro, then obviously it would be different and we would have greater need for an experienced stretch 4. But with KJ back, clearly he is the starter and will demand huge minutes at the 3 and 4. Maybe Castleton could steal more minutes at the 5 and move ahead of Payne or Jitoboh, but as of now I think it sets up better for him to sit out a year. IMO.
