Yeah I'll believe that when a recruit comes out and says I really wanted to be a Gator but those people at Gator Country were too negative. It's about the money man.
Then we have an unnecessary excuse. And that is infinitely more palatable than whatever “Yeah, but” the Four Years at Any Cost Crowd is currently brewing up in the event of four-to-five wins. You know, “Yeah, but the schedule was hard,” “Yeah, but we had injuries,” “Yeah, but the Portal screwed us, “Yeah, but the Administration didn’t invest in NIL,” “Yeah, but if we didn’t have such bad luck with our uncoached special teams,” and so on. Napier gets paid to win football games, not to perpetually vow that wins are just over the horizon.
Heard you reiterate that several times now, and I’m still calling BS. If Napier lays a third egg, then Lagway hitting the Portal is an acceptable risk. We will need a winning coaching staff way more than we will need any one player. So I recommend cheering for Napier to earn a fourth season rather than lobbying to get him an unearned fourth season in advance.
Here is my give. We win 0-3 games..he is most likely out. We win 4+ games, he starts in 2025. If the BB doesn't make the NCAA, SS is out and all bets are off as there is no way SS is given a third chance to hire a football coach.
Reportedly we paid 32.4 million in buyouts for the last 3 coaches. No way we are going to pay another 25 million to buyout Napier. The negativity in here is borderline toxic. I'm looking forward to the season and will hope for the best.
Not just that, but Billy inherited the toughest schedules any new coach has ever taken on in history of the FBS. I tried to crunch the numbers but going back to 1970 no coach has ever started their program with the SOS he has had to deal with.
Asking for a winning season isn’t competing with the big boys. That’s just a basic expectation when you’re paying a coach 7 million plus all the other coaches millions and now players however many millions combined. If we can’t expect 7 wins then we should close shop.
If you become the schedule cupcake, excuses don’t matter, perception does. Big year for the Boys of Fla to step up and earn some respect.
I'm unsure what the record will be without a veteran OL and the uncertainty on defense. IF we had a great OL, I think Mertz could make some noise. With that said, I think Florida has to go 7-5 for 2024. Not out of the question, but it will have to mean the Gators offense must play consistently better. Can they win the first seven games, because the last five opponents on the schedule looks brutal?
Gator Football isn't going anywhere. Closing Shop is a personal choice that people have.. Anyone can close shop by stop watching or going to the games, and/or get off the forums. I myself will continue to follow our team.. Whether i continue to participate in forums, that depends on if it continues to be an enjoyable experience. I took the first step about a year ago by getting off too hot. Too many toxic people venting their own hang-ups.
I think if BN was just having winning seasons people would still complain. I’m only saying UF isn’t going to compete for titles anytime soon, that’s a UF thing and a BN thing. Can he put together winning seasons? Probably. Can he win championships at UF, probably not.
There's a rule about graduates, I think, that says they can transfer at any time as long as they're going to a school that has accepted them into their graduate program. The article, though, says he's a senior with 1 year of eligibility remaining. So maybe he had his paperwork in on time and just announced it today or he's due to graduate before he decides where to go. Either way, he's gone like a cool breeze.
