What do you sell as a recruiter your first couple years on a 5 year plan? Hey come to UF, by the time you're gone we might be good.

So, this post is about, what needs to happen in year three? Here's an article that seems to suggest that some think we may have our quarterback, but what will the defense look like? Will Mertz miss Pearsall? Will any WR's fill in the slot for Pearsall? Our defense may have more to say in the 2024 season. Are we done with portal (rhetorical)? What needs to happen there? Let's move on from road trips, please?

There's a lot to sell to recruits to come play for the University of Florida. Our coaches are selling and putting our team together in a good way. Just because you can't see the benefits of coming to UF, that doesn't mean they don't exist (I believe most of us know what they are)..

What we think the benefits are versus what the players think are often two different things.

So, are some suggesting here that we should ditch, "It's Great to be a Florida Gator" to "it's great to receive a $1 million offer!"?

Let's be real. I'm in HS, 4* OL with offers from 20+ P5 schools. Lifelong Gator fan. UF offers 500k, UGA offers 1 million. I'm going to UGA. 18 years old with an opportunity to secure a lifechanging amount of wealth, not only for me but also for my family. Not just for myself either, if I had a nephew or something with that same choice, I'm telling him to go to UGA. Now, if the difference is negligible, say less than 10%, then of course now I'm focusing on all the other factors.

I would say that the primary focus is not what they are spectating, but writing about what they are spectating, as the event itself is irrelevant. The 'addiction' is not to spectating, but writing about it.

For most (not all) of the Gator players, or at least those for which this applies, "It's great to be anywhere that pays, gives me more PT, or gets me to the NFL." How many of these athletes have the school spirit we have? Very few could be accepted here academically. The ideals we have for our school died with We Are The Boys. I am among the few of those who opposed permanently replacing WATBOOF with Don't Back Down. It should have been a one off after Tom died, but hey, that's another conversation.

"In all kinds of weather, we all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A..."

    RIP

With the upcoming schedule, I think 7-8 wins, including bowl game, is the realistic target. It will truly depend on if our defense improves, and by what degree it does. If that defensive line performs better than last season, definitely looks better on paper at the moment, then that helps everything behind them, and gives our offense more opportunities. The new defensive coaches we have, should hopefully fix any cohesive issues/rifts we had between defensive coaches last season. Also, with the addition of Roberts, if he can somehow even mirror Auburn’s defense last season, then I definitely think that win number goes up by 2. If we had Auburn’s defensive numbers this past season, we probably win 3 more games last season, plus whatever would’ve happened in the bowl game. Either way, I’m ready for it.

That's pretty much a 5-10 year ago view, today it's all about the money. I think there are very few players now (especially highly rated) that are in it for the school. Unfortunately, I think those days are gone.
