    From the OP:

I didn't know this, but apparently Arizona doesn't yet have a Lt. Governor, but that's in the works.

No explanation given yet. But Hobbs just returned from a 1-week trip in SE Asia, visiting S. Korea in order to entice a large chip company to come to Arizona. Speculation is she isn't feeling well. Jet lag? COVID? Something else.

Meanwhile, President Biden is in Phoenix today to give a speech honoring John McCain. Hobbs was originally scheduled to attend, but isn't. The transfer of power is mostly in title only, and only supposed to last a day, corresponding with Biden's visit. My guess is it's nothing to report other than maybe Hobbs isn't feeling well.

Anyone remember when the Lt Governor of Idaho became Governor for a day for same reason and authorized the state militia to head to the border?

Seems odd that a one-week vacation out of the country didn't require this temporary appointment, but a possible one-day illness does?

Yeah, that was weird. IIRC, their law says if the governor leaves the state for any reason, the Lt. Gov. takes over.

No Lt. Governor. When Hobbs was out of the country, Secretary of State Fontes was technically in charge. Think he's out of state right now, which is why he isn't taking over for Hobbs today.

Yeah. The loser of the previous election should be the interim governor.

This was all a figment of Fox "News'" imagination and anyone gullible enough to run with anything they release.

"Gov. Katie Hobbs didn’t disappear for a day, our common sense did. And not just for a day.
Opinion: A idiotic false narrative became a viral sensation when it could have been cleared up with a simple phone call."

Gov. Katie Hobbs did NOT disappear, our common sense did

"Fox News stirred up conspiracy theories online Thursday with a report about state Treasurer Kimberly Yee being named acting governor after what the conservative cable news network called the “mysterious disappearance of Gov. Katie Hobbs.”

The erroneous news report, later changed by Fox, followed a false rumor that went viral on social media earlier this week that Hobbs had been “indicted” by the state Senate on charges related to conspiring with a Mexican drug cartel.

Fox News said Gov. Katie Hobbs disappeared, where she actually was

According to her she really didn't lose the election it was stolen from her through fraud. Although she ultimately lost the case this is from December 2022.
Kari Lake to claim in court Arizona governor's race was stolen from her

As with the former president the fact that she lost multiple times in court hasn't changed her narrative that she really won the election.
