Not sure this is the "told ya so" that one should pimp out. Besides, it's still early. Ole Miss got their doors blown off by TN in the last one and then went nutz with fall away jump shots against the Gators, who admittedly played very low IQ basketball. We're still the team that led Kentucky for most of the game a few days ago. Let's see how we respond in the next one, which is critical. If the Gators lose that one, we can all celebrate the greatness of your thread.
If that's genuinely the case, then I apologize. Your question is obviously difficult to answer a mere two games into the SEC season and non-conf schedules are so wildly different that it's hard to know who these teams are. Look at Ole Miss. One game they look like crap and the next game they block 16 shots & make non-stop step back jumpers like their the GS Warriors. To answer your question, right now the Gators are not better than any SEC team other than Vandy and maybe Mizzou. Beat Arkansas and then we can add them to the list. There are at least four or five other teams we can add to the list by beating them.
In my opinion...I think offensively we are one of the best teams in the SEC but defensively I think we are one of the worst teams in the SEC and add in the poor free throw shooting and I think we end up in the bottom tier of the league. The good news we can end up in the upper tier of the league if defense and free throw shooting improve which can be done.
I admit i had us 5th in conference. I did like our talent so I might be wrong still time to turn it around. Don't understand FT shooting we are terrible at it not sure why.Everyone is shooting worse than they did before they came here. So you might have been right when you said we are bottom 2 or 3. I also told you Condon would have been a top player if he played in States. Said he was a NBA player. You win some you lose some.Dont count a win yet on your prediction still think we can finish top 5
Starting 0 - 2 in SEC play is concerning. I will admit, after that Ole Miss fiasco, I am forced to re-evaluate the Gators, and in that vain, I am starting to worry.
Understandable. I remember feeling so optimistic about the group w McKissic, Felder, Jones, Duruji, etc. That team just fell apart and several of the transfers ended up being busts. I'm currently fighting the fear of that happening all over again.
Three teams are clearly better offensively & 5-6 better defensively. We're kind of in a group with UK, Ole Miss, TAMU & USC that might be tossups. Is our offense consistent enough to consistently counter the defense of UGA & LSU? Maybe slight edge UF for those two. UF is probably better than Vandy, Arkansas & Missouri.
For comparison here is where we were. We ended up with the same record with worse relative numbers under CTG. 2022-23 (9-9) 2021-22 (9-9)
I predicted we'd go 10-8, and predicted we'd start the SEC slate at 0-2. Everything is still in front of us. If it wasn't for the way in which we lost to Ole Miss, I'd have no concerns. But alas, we did lose how we lost and that was very eye opening in a lot of bad ways. This Army game isn't a total make or break, but it's pretty darn close
With good reason. Two true road games so far this season. Two complete disasters. Given our crappy non-con schedule and barely quality wins, we probably need to win half of our remaining road games to sniff the Tournament, and that’s IF we hold serve at home. Where are they going to come from? at Tennessee at Missouri at Kentucky at Texas A&M at Georgia at Alabama at South Carolina at Vanderbilt
It is ABSOLUTELY make or break, since the next game is at Tennessee. We lose today and you can flush this season.
Stall-ball won't win at all. UT continued to score at ≈ the same rate while UGA quit like the f$u football team.
imho must sweep Vandy, UGA, Missouri & beat Arkansas/LSU along with 2 Q1, probably USC & Miss State to safely get in.
