Amazing that this question is still being asked.

Think of it as "Black Lives Matter, too." As it was intended.

As in, they matter as much as Whites, or Asians, or any other race. No one is saying they matter more, just that they don't matter less.

"All Lives Matter". Yes. No kidding. That's the whole point. But those going around spouting the obvious are purposely taking an oppositional stance -- that or they're just that freaking stupid.

I think the litmus test is in whether or not a person gets offended by one phrase OR the other. Not to call people close-minded, but rather an indicator of a lack of understanding and compassion. When people ask such a question, those who will throw the person asking the question into a category of disdain are also ones who are in need of help (again with respect to lacking understanding and compassion). There's nothing inherently wrong with either phrase. To me, there's great irony in those getting offended by the retort of "all lives matter" without taking the time to understand and consider why the phrase may have come about. And for those asking the question like the OP, assuming a genuine ask, it's worth exploring the deeper meaning that the phrase "black lives matter" has with varying individuals (asking and listening...not arguing, is a great way to do that). Discard the group think; discard the tagging of somebody for or against either phrase as fitting into some stereotype that can be more easily attacked. Take the time to consider where another with a different view is coming from, and try to lose any hate or disdain that boils from within along the way.

I would propose a non-political compromise "your life matters." Or at least I'm not aware of it having been politicized yet. ;)

It's pretty simple, all lives matter. No reason to single out any group

I think Black Lives Matter. I think all lives matter. No one is better than the other. And blacks have been more likely to be shot or incarcerated in the past.

As to your stats. Blacks commit a lot more crime percentage wise. Without that stat yours are not telling the whole truth.

Nice post, WES. I agree with all of it, but would suggest that this thread did not begin with a "genuine ask."

Isn't there a strong irony here, considering the issue of police brutality against black people?

Given the disproportionate poverty rate, I think it's likely that black Americans commit more crimes/violent crimes than others. Policing is likely a factor too, though I don't know if it's great enough of a factor to account for crime rate.

When it comes to policing, do you think members of certain races are singled out?

    Percentage wise yes.

Economics has a lot to do with it. Also black on black crime is an issue.

I agree, we should not punish people for committing crimes. Going forward, let’s embolden blacks and encourage them to participate in more criminal behaviors. Let’s teach cops that it’s not worth the trouble to go into the rough areas because of the libbie backlash awaiting.
    Perfect.

C'mon Bluke, that's disingenuous. Can you answer the question? When it comes to policing, do you think members of certain races are singled out?

How do drug usage rates compare by race? How do drug arrests compare by race?

BLM is a co-opted slogan, political movement, who's leaders have managed to steal millions of dollars in donations to their cause.

Oh, I'm pretty confident that in addition to poverty, the war on drugs has had an impact on black crime/violent crime rates. The original question, though, did not take causes into account and that was what I was responding to.

The " all lives matters" folks were also the people that flippantly avoided any measures to try and slow down Covid. You know, something that would, in fact, show other all people's lives actually matter.

What the "All Lives Matter" people actually mean is "Only My Life Matters."
