The biggest difference is both of the guys you mentioned had tremendous final seasons leading up to the draft. As far as rushing stats, both of those guys were also always running threats....whereas AR has shown stretches where he seemed absolutely disinterested in tucking the ball & running. Now, whether this is simply trying to avoid injury for the upcoming draft, I have no idea.

Tebow got a raw deal for sure, but the arm talent isn’t in the same universe.

Plenty of guys put up huge stats then flame out in the NFL, or don’t even show up on draft boards because the NFL thinks they are a “system QB”.

I guess it’s a gamble no matter what, so that’s why “measurables” become so important, and AR if nothing else certainly has a unique arm talent as you so aptly put (flicking the ball downfield like its a booger). He has the raw talent to be a #1 pick, but with the inconsistency displayed it’s surprising he wouldn’t be looked at more as a 2nd day pick with huge upside. Most of the guys in the 1st round aren’t drafted just for potential, it’s guys who put it all together on the college football field AND have the measurable. So in that regard it would be unusual to see a player leave after a somewhat disappointing season.

Fans will complain regardless of whether AR comes back or not. Bank on it.

Dude, get off the win a National Title slant as we are only in year 2 of this portal thing, NIL and the one free transfer rule. As you can see, the floodgates are now wide open like never before.

Worth is subjective and we are hearing that multiple scouts have him graded as a first rounder.

Why would you advise him against taking first round money? He can always get a diploma later. He may not get a chance at first round money later if there’s more film or god forbid he gets hurt.

I don’t think people want to really know why. They are just stuck on their stances of AR not being ready. Never mind Levis is getting talked up too, but I guess Levis is ready for the NFL.

He’s been horrible in the RZ all year and you’re gonna take one series and challenge that stat?

Picking Richardson #1 overall would be the most Houston Texans thing ever.

It has happened, it is happening and will be happening unfortunately. I’m sure we will hear more stories of it moving forward.

It’s just not debatable. You take first round money every time. Sure he would benefit from more experience but in my opinion is likely to ruin his chance at first round money.

Zach Wilson was MUCH more consistent in college than AR. And has made at least some positive impact at the next level.

The reason is it's possible for him to improve as a qb and I do believe he has lots of room to improve so that in theory he would have longevity in the nfl. There have been lots of qb's who have gotten first round money but were busts and only lasted a year or two where had they improved their craft they may have lasted longer.
But I also recognize some qbs who stayed all 4 years still ended up being a bust. Chances are, if drafted first round he's not going to start, and you can only learn so much in practice verses playing. I just think the more experience would benefit him in the long run. Just my 2 cents.

Josh Allen went 7th overall and might be a closer comparison.
Having said that, scouts love a big arm and AR is in the Michael Vick category (without the dog issues).

Jackson and Hurts won’t rush for1000 very many years. If they can’t learn to win solely from the pocket, their years will be few. Running is a quick fix but the best passers will still win the Super Bowls. Mahomes can win after his legs are gone.

If he stays then they should pair him up with a good quarterback coach
